I noticed something about the hooplah over Caitlyn Jenner. Her name was Bruce, when she was still known as a man. A man named Bruce, who never quite felt like he belonged. An incredibly talented athlete in multiple disciplines. A millionaire playboy. Has young wards who he encourages to engage in questionable activities. And then, she came out as trans, what some (ignorant) people consider a false costume, or a “mask.” And although it’s a milestone for trans culture, it’s still putting the focus on the wrong things-- the whole conversation in the media is very sexist, only focusing on the physical aspects of womanhood. She’s not the hero the trans community deserves, but she’s the hero the trans community needs right now. She became more than a man. A symbol. CAITLYN JENNER IS BATMAN
