Day 1: Trust
Setting: Blind AU where Pidge is blind and Keith is her newbie guide.
Pairings: Kidge, One Sided Plance
Warnings: First time writing of Kidge.
Sometimes, she desires to be able to see... if only to look at and see her family with the technology.
Everything else could go die in despair.
Well, not Hunk, Allura, Shiro, Coran, and Lan-
Actually, Lance could go ahead and die in misery if he doesn’t stop with his horrible theories and the practices of flirtations on her (though she doesn’t get why he sulks and mopes every time she rejects or ignores them, unlike everytime he flirts with other girls, one after the one).
Signing, she adjusts herself on the desk she's on, ignoring the whispers of the surrounding people who came as early as she did for the first class of the first day, especially when it was the first time she’s not with any of her friends. She supposes she makes a strange sight with the unusual green visor (Matt told her what color it was, no matter how much it hurts inside how he forgot she could never even envision what that color was) covering the top of her face.
But she prefers the sight she’s giving now then what her stare would cause once seen.
Even if she couldn’t see, she knows (back then, now, and forever) when stares of pity (and fascination and mock) are directed at her; she rather have the choice of whispers then those stares. Now if only to have that without a new guide...
Speaking of which...
Ears picking up the light footsteps outside the door among the useless chatter, Pidge Gunderson sharply grins behind the hand she now leans on. ‘Let’s see if this is another asshole to kick or someone capable of being my guide.’
Let’s hope she can trust the guy to not piss her off in their first meeting.
Keith Kogane glanced at the number next to the doorway, inwardly glad Shiro forced him to take that useless campus tour for the Galaxy Garrison; otherwise, he would have been late meeting this Gunderson person he’s been assigned to watch during this current year as part of his assistant work from that unnecessary volunteer program (another thing Shiro forced him in).
And what’s the deal with the details? ‘“The one with the unique appearance in your first class is your ward.” is not a good description to find a person in class holding more than 100!’ Keith scowls as he passes through the doorway, and pauses immediately.
‘Unless that is the accurate description.’
Words escape him as he took in the sight of a petite brunette, hair long and tied up in a high, side ponytail with bangs framing the top and sides of her head delicately, sitting crisscrossed ontop her desk with her chin in her palm, while the other types with a frightening intensity across the keyboard of a laptop.
All the while being the only one in the small gathering of students to wear clothing covering almost every inch of skin with a green visor covering her eyes, which are angled to stare directly at him.
Bump.
‘Bump?’ Keith briefly frowns before he mentally shrugging off the weird sensation, walking towards the brunette. Stopping beside the desk, he opens his mouth-
“Hey, is your name Keith Kogane?”
-and closes it, surprise temporarily flashing cross his eyes, then he states, “You’re Gunderson.”
She smiles, causing a weird sense of warmth to spark near his heart, “Smart. I already like you better than the other imbeciles the program tried to assign to me.” Taking her chin off her palm, she holds it out for his hand to shake. “I prefer Pidge if we’re going to have a decent time stuck together.”
Slightly smiling, Keith grabs and shakes her hand, ignoring the growing sensation in his chest. “Keith.”
He really should start trusting the random decisions Shiro makes for him.
Pidge should trust and listen to her instincts more often; they really are accurate in telling her which people are worth trusting.
