To search by the sense of feeling, as with the hand in a dark place.
--
He could hear the ticking of the clock. Each second that went by with a slow tic-toc. It made his head hurt, the way his heart seemed to follow the beat of the seconds, well every other second. But it was silent, the silence apart from the clock.
It was constricting, like his body was being squeezed in a vice, ribs barely holding up under the pressure. But he knew that it would slowly disappear again, the moment a touch smoothed against his own skin, the movement of clothing against clothing, the whisper of the cloth. But it wasn’t coming this time around, he couldn’t hear anything, but the clock and he could feel the pressure growing.
He tried to calm himself, taking deep slow breathes, in through his nose and out through parted lips. Letting the air escape, the warmth of it against his lower lip. It helped the constriction ease up a little, the tightness just disappearing a little, enough for him to shift on the bed from where he had woken up. He could feel from the coolness of the sheets that it was the middle of the night still, the room dark but then everything was dark these days and, in that instinct, in that brief moment of memories, the tightness came back again, and he choked.
Pushing the covers away, he swung his legs around, his feet settling down on to the ground as his fingers clenched at the edge of the mattress, the sheet bunching up beneath them.
He could do this.
Everyone said that he could.
But it didn’t stop the trembling from happening, the feeling of it started in his toes and crept up his legs, making them feel numb and cold as he shivered. Somewhere there was an open window, and he squeezed his eyes shut. He was told that it was a full moon tonight and while he couldn’t see the large globe in the sky, he knew that it was there, could almost feel her light as it danced across the room and his skin.
AU Stiles is born blind. Talia told Claudia that there's a possibility for Stiles to see if they gave him the bite. On the day they were supposed to give him the bite the hale fire happens. Years later Derek's the alpha and offers Stiles the bite. Stiles says yes. Okay so 2 options 1)it doesn't work and Stiles is a blind badass who wood Derek this his smarts and charm. 2)it works and the first thing he sees is Derek. "Scott you didnt tell me he was gorgeous! I've been missing out!"
Oh my gosh, I want both of those to happen!
I just imagine Stiles giving Deucalion a run for his money and being a total badass; the Daredevil of Beacon Hills.
But also Stiles being able to see for the first time but suddenly can’t speak becasue he is looking at the most gorgeous man he’s sure that if he opens his mouth he’s going to let out an sound that is completely inhuman or just drool non-stop.

Author’s Notes: For SteterNetwork’s September 2017 prompt: Orange.
Short(ish) one this month. Definitely rushed, I wrote it in like two days. Most of it on the bus to and from school (god bless google docs). I actually thought I wouldn't post one for this month's prompt because I’ve been ridiculously busy with midterms and projects, and I couldn't come up with a decent plot idea. Also need to finish up that SP chapter asap fml so that's been more of a priority. Hopefully I’ll get that posted by Monday. Anyway, I tried to come up with something Halloween/holiday-ish for this prompt but I am apparently very bad at those so this is what you get instead. It's similar to my Red in Tooth and Claw fic since this was the other route that fic could've taken if I hadn't gone with that one.
It takes a while for the pack to adjust but they do, making sure to say things out loud instead of nodding or shaking their head, and making sure that Isaac stops Stiles before he walks into something that could hurt him instead of sitting back and watching on for a few laughs. They still occasionally slip up and ask him “Did you see that?” to which his only reply is to blankly stare at them.
A lot of the time he makes the best of it, often teasing Derek about how he can just imagine him naked all day every day and he doesn’t have reality to break that illusion.
Stiles adjusts to his new way of living, learning how to memorise things in his house and walk about them and when he needs to read something, Derek reads it to him (stories, case files, the latest supernatural research, everything).
On their wedding day, Derek forgets his tie and has to run to Scott’s to get it (Because Scott was in charge of the suits and Cora was too busy trying to get into her dress to make the run for him). When he gets there, Scott tells him to wait in the door while he runs to get the tie. Stiles hears him and shouts hello. Derek tells him “It’s bad luck to see the groom before the wedding.” To which Stiles teasingly replies, “Then it’s a good thing I can’t see you.”
During their wedding, Stiles and Derek wrote their own vows about how they don’t need to look at one another in the morning to know that they’re waking up to each other, they don’t have to see one another to know that the other is there for them and they don’t have to share loving gazes at the alter to know they are standing before the man they love.
When Stiles and Derek adopt a baby, Stiles is terrified and heart broken. He’s scared that because he can’t see he won’t be able to care for the baby but he does his best. And he’s heartbroken because he never gets to see their child. Except for one day, when Scott heals his sight just long enough that he can see the smiling face of their baby and then look up at Derek’s loving gaze. The vision doesn’t last long, but that’s perfectly okay because now he can hold onto that image forever.

I See You Better by theroguesgambit
He dreams, sometimes, of his last moments of seeing.
At the church in Mexico, Stiles is blinded by a Berserker. Derek uses his new wolf status to act as a guide dog, while Stiles adjusts to his new reality.
Out of Nowhere by CaptainStilinski
It started so gradually that Stiles didn’t think much of it. Just chalked it up to too many nights using his amazing googling powers as requested -more like threatened- by the one and only broody werewolf himself.
It was nothing really. Just a barely there fuzziness around the corners of his vision. He’d blink a few times, rub his eyes, and it would go away.
Stiles didn’t think anything of it.
Serendipity by mynamjo
Derek moves back to Beacon Hills to open up his new art gallery when he meets a blind boy who won't leave him alone.
Cornerstone by Vendelin
Suffering from PTSD, ex-Marine Derek Hale moves back to Beacon Hills to open a bookshop and find a calmer life. That’s where he meets Stiles, completely by accident. Stiles is talkative, charming and curious. Somehow, despite the fact that he’s blind, he’s able to read Derek like no one else.

Derek has a new neighbor who won't stop looking.
Excerpt:
“You’re blind,” Derek said flatly, the anger draining from him so suddenly he felt almost woozy. His vision cleared, his claws sliding back into blunt fingernails.
“Thanks for the memo, genius,” the kid said acidly. “I can still fucking defend myself, so don’t take another damn step.”
“Fuck, I...I’m sorry,” Derek stuttered.
“What?!” The kid’s brow crinkled. “I mean — what?! You’re fucking sorry!?” His lips thinned into a harsh line. “What, is this some kinda Hallmark movie where you’re discovering the error of your ways because you don’t want to rob a blind person?! That’s fucking condescending, man. I’ll have you know that —”
“Just, wait.” Derek interrupted what was apparently the start of a convincing argument as to why he should rob the kid after all, feeling his head start to spin. “This is — it’s a misunderstanding. I’m — I’m not robbing you. You’re — you’re safe, okay? I’m taking three steps back. Just — just let me explain.”
“Explain why you came busting into my apartment? Yeah, go right ahead, man, I can’t wait to hear this epic tale.”
Lend Me Your Eyes, Give Me Your Heart by Akiruchan
Stiles’ life sucks. He’s honest enough with himself to admit to at least that. More often than not he spends his free time running for his life, saving people from creatures who want to rip his face off, and all around having a distinct lack of self-preservation. It sort of comes with the territory. Not something he can avoid when his circle of friends happen to be werewolves.
There’s Monsters at Home by calrissian18
“How did you get past the wards?” Derek had put them up, with Peter’s grudging assistance, after the Alpha pack had made themselves at home a few times too many.
The guy pulled a face. “You mean the wards a five-year-old girl with the mental ability of a goldfish could deconstruct?” He blinked wide eyes at Derek. “Gee, I don’t know. It’s bound to go down as one of life’s great mysteries.”
Derek despised him.
Sinking Like a Stone (Carry On) by iamnightbird
Derek Hale is convinced he can protect his pack from anything. Kanimas, other packs, even the supernatural that remain myths (like demons and the such), but an event hits him like a punch to the gut to remind him that the things he can’t protect his pack from are the everyday horrors in which life makes us her bitch. Puzzle Pieces and Training Wheels by A_Lesbian_With_Pink_Hair
Stiles goes to his first day of kindergarten and comes home with a best friend, learns that losing his mother is not the worst thing ever to happen in Beacon Hills, and guilts his best friend into going to the woods at night which inadvertently causes everything else to fall into place.
Darkness Before Dawn by lanoirpapillon
Prompt:
"Due to the actions of the Alpha pack, Stiles goes blind. After the threat is gone, Stiles has to learn to live without his sight, and maybe Derek would make the perfect seeing-eye wolf."
Put Me Next to an Open Window by orphan_account
Derek has always mentioned, in passing, the side effects of turning. There's always the chance it won't take and the person could die; after that, though, there is any number of other things that could complicate life further. He never expected one of those things to actually happen—they're considered rare, those malfunctions—and certainly never to a member of his own pack.
Marked skin doesn’t make me shiver by OliveBranch_10
It had jumped at him just seconds after going down, angry that this fragile human fought back. Stiles can still feel its claws getting stuck in his skin, the pulling, and the tearing of his skin. He heard Scott howl, the harsh breathing of the omega and the ripping of flesh – his own –
He remembers Derek’s fingers touching. “You’re going to be okay Stiles, don’t worry we’ll fix this.” Panic had squeezed his throat and made it hard to get the words out. “Derek? I can’t see anything.”
I have this idea for a story I want to write where one day Derek finds Stiles wondering through the streets of the abandoned part of town (near the loft) and goes up to him to ask if he's lost. Stiles says no, and tells Derek that he was just testing something. When Derek asks what he was testing Stiles says, "I just wanted to see how long it would be before someone noticed, how far I'd have to go before people lost the fear of offending me and started to worry." "What do you mean?" Derek asks, but his question is answered when he finally notices the guide dog at Stiles' side.
Stiles is blind.
Stiles seems to notice Derek’s unease and so he says, “This is Murdock.”
Derek chuckles and asks, “As in Matt Murdock? Daredevil?”
Stiles smiles, “You’re the first person to get that reference.”
Derek, worried about Stiles, offers for him to come inside while he calls the Sheriff to come and pick him up. They sit together and talk until the Sheriff arrives and Stiles farewells Derek.
A couple of nights later, Derek wakes, instinct telling him he should not be sleeping. He looks out the window and sees Stiles wandering about in the darkness without Murdock. Derek runs down to the street and carefully approaches Stiles, trying not to startle him as he talks softly and ushers him inside. Stiles kind of looks at Derek and whimpers, “I was sleep walking again, wasn’t I?”
Derek lets Stiles stay the night at the loft and watches over him. When Stiles wakes, he’s lost and confused. Derek calms him down and offers to take him home.
