I think most importantly (and most general) is I've learned to ride tactfully and as kindly/correctly as possible as opposed to defensively or in a survival only manner - probably saving myself and my horses from irreversible injury(ies). Having regular instruction has allowed me to see when I'm riding poorly and accept blame in my own faults rather than the horse who didn't understand what I asked.( 1/2 I think)
I think the 2 part got eaten by Tumblr being garbage, but yes! Many people who don’t receive proper instruction develop very defensive positions that will keep the ON but won’t allow them to effectively communicate. Not being able to effectively communicate means a lot of “misbehaviors” from a horse not sure what you’re asking--- an effective correct positions really helps to highlight when it’s the fault of how you’ve asked versus a horse “unwilling” to do what is asked. (Let’s be real, most horses who are unwilling are either confused because we fucked up as riders or confused because they’ve not finished learning the thing being asked yet).
