The update includes the final scenes for chapter 1; it ended up not being a very choice-heavy update and on the shorter side, but the first part of chapter 2 should make up for that.
Unfortunately saves won't work. I thought I was being smart making all the variables temp for the last update without thinking about the fact that they are actually needed for the rest of the story, so I had to update the files to make them actual variables. Sorry about that!

Have the update a week early. I was looking over what was left to do and realised I only had a couple of options left to be written, so I might or might not have stayed up all night and written them and then spent the morning testing and doing a quick read-through.
The update includes the official end of the mansion infiltration. It is also in a separate file, so saves should still work; you might just need to get through the prologue, but after that, hopefully, you will be able to jump to the last save.
The next update will be the end of the chapter; I don't have a date in mind for release, but it should be a lot quicker, as it will be a bit more linear.

The demo for Blink has been updated with the direct attack route for the mansion; this path doesn't use the same sneaking mechanics but has the new damage system. I was hoping to get both of the remaining paths done, but at the moment I'm getting barely any time to actually write anything. For now I'm going to focus on getting the next part of chapter 1 done and then finishing the final path, as I need a break from that stuff. I also couldn't add the above in a separate file due to the damage mechanic, so sorry to say, but all saves will be gone. I will be changing this for the next update, however.

The demo for Blink has been updated with about 50k words, including code; however, it's mostly branches, so it will be a lot less in terms of actual gameplay per playthrough.

The demo includes the below:
Vehicle selection
One of the main paths for the mansion break-in
A stealth gameplay section (there is a fail state, but it won't become apparent until the next update)

The next thing I will be working on is the other two paths for the mansion break-in, and hopefully the next update should include both. Then the update after that should include the rest of the chapter, as the events after the break in all flow together, so it might take a bit longer to get that update out.
Thank you, and I hope you all enjoy the new content.
Dev update time, so I wasn't able to get the update out for the end of last month. There are quite a few reasons, from just not getting time to write to looking for a new job and a family member being rushed to hospital. But writing has been going well; I have managed to write more in the last week than I did for the whole of last month, with about 50k words and a big chunk of one of the routes done for the end of the infiltration scene.
I'm not going to put out any expected release date for the update, as my writing time at the moment has been pretty sporadic, and I wouldn't really be able to even give a good guess on when the next update will be out.
But rest assured I am getting there with the writing, and there isn't any way I am going to be abandoning or dropping Blink anytime soon.
I have also been working/reworking another game, which can be found here with a short demo; the ideas and world are all from the IF that I was originally going to release first but lost when my old PC died and I didn't have any backups. There won't be any updates on it anytime soon, but I wanted to at atleast put it out so that it didn't feel like the 7 months that I spent on world-building and ideas went to waste last year.
Thanks again, and hopefully there will be updates soon. 😊
I thought I would do a bit of a dev blog, as there haven't really been any updates from me for what feels like a while. At the moment I feel like I'm in a weird place with Blink, where I'm not getting anywhere near as much done as I would like, but I'm way happier with the overall quality of the writing and have a lot more of a solid outline and plan for what I want the story to be and hopefully convey.
Originally I wanted to have the whole of chapter 1 done by the end of February; I don't know if I was just being overly optimistic or if I just overestimated how much I could write, but that obviously wasn't possible. The new plan is to have the rest of Chapter 1 split in two, with the rest of the mansion infiltration coming out by the end of March and then the rest of Chapter 1 coming out by the end of April.
Once both of the above parts are done, I will be working on some of the customisation flavour text and then doing a merge of all the chapter 1 files just to make it easier for me to keep track of.
The timelines might be done sooner, as I'm basing them off the amount of writing at the moment, which has mostly only been one day every week due to overtime I'm having to do at work and some personal commitments, but hopefully I should be able to free up some time to get my teeth stuck into just writing the story to the best of my ability.
I just wanted to say a big thank you to you guys for asking questions and just actually being interested in the character, the world and the story overall. The idea of 50 people being interested in the story was amazing for me to see that so many more people have actually taken a chance to read the story. Even with some of the flaws with grammar and pacing in the earlier parts of Chapter 1, it is amazing, so a massive thank you to you guys. 💖
There should be more updates and answers to asks soon; thank you all again. 😊
Hope you're all having a good one. I'm thinking I might post some weekly snippets while there aren't any updates just to keep you guys up to date. The below is a snippet from near the end of chapter 1. It won't be in the next couple of updates but should be in the game by the end of next month. Slight spoilers, so if you don't want anything spoiled, I would recommend skipping.
Your world is completely black, leaving you unaware of your surroundings. A crescendo of sound hits your ears, a wheezing breath drones underneath, and a segmented beeping punctuates it. Familiar voices drift through the noise, but you can't match the faces that they belong to; they periodically call out numbers and commands followed by clicking and clanking.
Forcing your eyelids open, you are assaulted by blinding white, causing you to seal them shut once more. As you try to protest, the sound of bubbles is the only thing generated.
You tentatively open your eyelids again, letting the light saturate your eyes slowly. It takes a second before your vision focuses and acclimates to the new sensation. The sting that was previously present grows worse as the liquid that surrounds you hits your naked eye, causing you to wince as you fight to keep your eyes open.
You stare bleary-eyed into the room, willing them to focus as your surroundings come into view. The grime that cakes and sticks to the wall is visible even in the dim light provided by the monitors and machinery around you.
You try and force your voice out again, only to be met with another cascade of bubbles that dance into your vision.
When your previous attempts at using your voice fail you, you try to move instead. As you aim to move your hand, it feels like you're moving in slow motion, your actions weighted down by whatever liquid you're floating in. You work against the weight of the liquid, straining to lift your arm only for it to hit some sort of transparent wall surrounding you.
You inspect the container you're floating in; now that you know it's there, you can see the slight rust and filth around the edges. A sickly green light illuminates below you, diffused by the water and tinting the clear liquid. Pushing against the syrup-like liquid again, you slam your palm against the wall with all the force you can muster, drawing the stares of those within the room and stopping any conversation in its tracks. Your attack against the container leaves a faint smudged handprint upon the surface and produces a muffled slap sound.
