DAY NINETY-SEVEN - CANDACE FURBERT - CATHERINE OF ARAGON
Cruise Alternate Costumes That Made It To Broadway/West End
Note: Most of these have changes between the design originated and the ultimate design worn on Bway/WE stages, but they are similar enough that it is clearly a slightly tweaked versions of the same design. I also only included major changes, so the introduction of a “K” choker necklace (etc) would not be included.
Howard skirt
Pictured (L-R): Bryony Duncan, Bliss 1.0, 12 Jan 2019(?), @/natpilk1; Elizabeth Walker, Breakaway 1.0, 19 Feb 2020, @/_jasmine_shen_; Sophie Isaacs, West End, 12 Dec 2020, @/tudorvonsnaps
Elizabeth Walker debuted a new teal alt Howard skirt design on 19 Feb 2020. The same basic design (with some changes) became the new principal Howard design (2.0). It’s shown here on Sophie Isaacs, but was first debuted by Courtney Monsma (principal Howard, AUS/NZ Tour) on 4 Jan 2020. Bryony Duncan’s (debuted 23 Sep 2019) looks like it also may have been an earlier idea for the Howard 2.0 skirt.
The 2.0 skirt would later be worn by the principals and swings of Bliss 2.0 and Broadway.
Black alternate pants
Pictured (L-R): Natalie Pilkington, Bliss 1.0, 28 Jan 2020, @/vee_victoria; Collette Guitart, West End, unknown date, @/james.aviss01
Natalie Pilkington debuted a pair of pants for the black alt costume on 18 Sep 2019. Collette Guitart and Karis Oka (black alt, AUS/NZ Tour) later wore the new pants design. (Note: While Collette debuted as Parr before Natalie Pilkington first wore the new pants variation, Collette didn’t receive the same variation until after Natalie Pilkington debuted them. Collette wore her primary skirt as Parr until then)
Black alternate Cleves
Pictured: Natalie Pilkington, Bliss 1.0, 15 Mar 2020, @/lori.mclare; Cassandra Lee, 2nd UK Tour, 14/15 Nov 2019, @/cassyvjlee
Natalie Pilkington was the first alternate to wear an all-black variation of the principal Cleves costume (debuted 31 Dec 2019). It was also worn by Cassandra Lee (debuted 14 Nov 2019) and Liv Alexander (Breakaway 1.0) (Note: While Natalie Pilkington officially debuted as Cleves after Cassandra Lee did, she received the Cleves outfit before)
Teal alternate Seymour-style skirt
Pictured: Elizabeth Walker, Breakaway 1.0, 17 Jan 2020, @/elizabethswalker; Shannen Alyce Quan, Aus/NZ Tour, 15 Feb 2020, @/courtneymonsma
A new teal alternate skirt design, modeled loosely off of the principal Seymour costume, was debuted by Bryony Duncan (Bliss 1.0) on 18 Dec 2019 (not pictured). It was also worn by Elizabeth Walker (pictured, debuted 16 Jan 2020) before being worn by Shannen Alyce Quan in the Aus/NZ Tour.
(Note: Bryony and Elizabeth both wore the skirt for Seymour, while Shannen wears it for Seymour and Parr and most likely other queens as well)
Teal alternate Boleyn-style skirt
Pictured: Bryony Duncan, Bliss 1.0, 8 Sep 2019, @/bryonyduncan; Shannen Alyce Quan, Aus/NZ Tour, 8 Jan 2020, unknown
A skirt modeled off of the principal Boleyn skirt was first debuted by teal alt Bryony Duncan on 8 Sep 2019. Shannen Alyce Quan later wore a similar skirt for a photo call, but had not debuted it in performance by the start of lockdown.
Black alt 3.0 Aragon-style sleeves
Pictured: Natalie Pilkington, Bliss 1.0, 31 Oct 2019, unknown; Collette Guitart, West End, unknown date, @/acalandrocreative
Natalie Pilkington debuted sleeves modeled after the principal Aragon sleeves on 31 Oct 2019 (worn for Aragon only). Collette Guitart later wore a similar design (unsure of date debuted, wore them for a few Parr shows before returning to her normal all-black sleeves as shown above). It’s unknown why she didn’t continue to wear them and why she only wore them for Parr.
Potential:
Black alt 3.0 primary skirt
Pictured: Natalie Pilkington, Bliss 1.0, 31 Oct 2019, unknown; Collette Guitart, West End, unknown date, @/89samwithacam
This skirt is a little bit more complicated. Natalie Pilkington first wore a version of it on 31 Oct 2019, but it was finished by 6 Sep 2019 at the latest. Collette Guitart first wore her version on 30 Aug 2019. Even though Collette debuted hers earlier, it’s most likely that Natalie Pilkington’s was completed first based on when Gabriella Slade and the production’s respective costume shops posted about creating the costumes. Collette’s costume was then used in future productions.
(Note: the *major* distinctions between these two styles is in the location of the lattice pattern and the panels. Collette’s has alternating black and clear panels with the lattice on every panel, while Natalie’s has lattice on alternating panels but all opaque black panels. There are some smaller distinctions in the shape, studding, etc. that I will go over in a post in the near future)

Now that six bliss 1.0 is over, does anyone have an a*dio that they'd be willing to trade or gift?
