Whoa...that Diablo panel...Yikes.
I’ve thought about playing Diablo 3, but this new “mobile game” thing is just....YIKES.
Of course, I love the “edgelords” comments going around online, but I don’t blame the fandom.
I still play the HP phone game...but it’s very...sporadic. Because I am too fucking tempted to throw money at the game to get passed those 3 hour cooldowns. And they just made Diablo into THAT.
Instead of making Diablo 4, they reskined a game that already exists and announced it like it WAS Diablo 4. So I can’t blame the booing at all. What the fuck did Blizzard and Activision think was gonna happen? That the Diablo fans were just gonna roll over and present their underbelly/necks? Hell no!! EA and the like just can’t seem to learn that the microtransaction market is NOT WANTED. Freemium games ARE NOT WANTED. Not in the PC/Console gaming market. But they keep on insisting on it.
No. No, FUCK that crap.
The biggest problem with this, if they don’t learn from it? When will it be WoW’s turn? Will it be pay2win when it inevitably goes to F2P? Or will they do the cosmetic cash shop like SWTOR? Will they do the tiers like SWTOR and Wildstar? You get the base/less amount of XP and money gain as a free player, but if you subscribe, you get 50% (as a preferred status player a la SWTOR) to 100% (full subscriber) xp gain/money? We already have the token. That’s on par with thetoken thing that gets you Platinum in Wildstar and EVE’s similar currency.
This was not a good panel. This was not a good reveal. And it is NOT a good indicator for Blizzard’s future. At least the loot boxes in Overwatch don’t do what Battlefront 2′s did.
So very underwhelmed at the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket rewards, but...
...That Alliance Banner....it SCREAMS Varian with the fir and the blue/gold lapel-chain thing...
UGH.
I am utterly resisting paying $50 just for that thing. But it is so fucking hard, dear god!
