I’ll put my thoughts under the cut because while I don’t have many I did get panel screenshots to talk about this week lmao
Okay so first of all that Nagi section
That was so good!
This past was so interesting to me
Him saying “not using someone else as a reason”
I wonder about the truth of that statement
Because he sort of is using someone else, in a way
It’s not directly Reo like it was before, but he is still falling into the trap of Blue Lock, getting sucked in by the ego of it all, and only being able to do so within the context of Blue Lock. So personally I still think he has a lot to go before he’s not using someone else as a reason, but I am loving seeing this progression
I loved this part!!!! As well as the following pages but I didn’t want to clog up my post with it so I’ll just talk about it
First, the talk about the life or death feeling. Something I love about Blue Lock is that type of thinking and the strain it puts on the players, I love seeing as they either rise above it or succumb to it, it’s so fascinating
Plus the return of Nagi’s ego with his skull aura and everything!
He says he is going to rebuild his life
First of all there is all the discussion about how he views his life as only within Blue Lock! Which furthers my point about is this truly him acting for himself?
But also I am just so hype to see the rebirth motif with him, I have been WAITING for this based on all the build up that has happened to this point
Also one interesting thing I’ve noticed is the pages in this side of the manga have been very light, not much shading at all, but then when his ego visual forms again there is that shading and darkness
I don’t quite have an analysis for that at the moment but I notice it
So yeah that’s my thoughts on the Nagi side
Now the part we’ve ALL BEEN WAITING FOR
And by all I mean me I’ve been desperately waiting for this lmao
THE POST GAME DEBRIEF!!!!!!!
So first of all I love Shidou and Rin having to be pulled back from each other because they were about to start fighting, I love seeing the cracks in the team as the pressure builds and builds, and they’re obviously the first place it would happen
And then Isagi taking it all on himself and blaming itself, I mean we all saw that coming but him opening up and explicitly saying that to the team
And then them all opening up!! I’ll be so honest, them having an open and vulnerable dialogue was NOT the direction I was expecting this to go but also I am not disappointed
Then that ending page!!!!
They’ve been needing to reevaluate what ego means and what Blue Lock is for a while I think, and now they’re going to do it!
I CANNOT WAIT to see how this goes, especially if they have conflicting definitions at first
I hope that’s what starts, they have conflicting definitions, they talk more, and as they discuss and reevaluate together they have a new shared definition, one that is not necessarily what Ego wants them to have
I want to see them grow beyond the boundaries of what Ego has set for them, become something Ego cannot control anymore, something he wasn’t prepare for
