Also on the topic of deals for power and deals with dragons in particular.
It seems more and more like Kinich's deal with Ajaw is an objectively evil deal to be made. It was always a little bit wary right the idea he'd let Ajaw have free reign in his body after he died. But you kind of don't think about it beyond the memes.
However with Ineffa's core planning to kill everybody and overriding her own choices. Ursa the Drake corrupting everyone she came into contact with.
You'd think his soul being entwined with Ajaw's would be causing Kinich some trouble. Yet he's so unaffected. Genshin I know this is slop writing but let me make something out of it pleaseee
Spoilers for Lohen's Story Quest//
I know it literally just came out but I have got to talk about it
Lohen is so unapologetically anti-social. He pays us to be his 'friend' His dissection of his benevolent and knightly actions in Nod Krai are so incorrect it's comical. We also get to do an Assassin's Creed gameplay (did I top up for that alone... yeah)
Lohen gets physically and emotionally drained being near children and animals. He wants nothing more than to get away from this boring shit and go have a fight somewhere. It's beautiful.
Now as for the meat of the quest.
Lohen makes a choice that is inherently evil. He works for a Long time with Theodore (his kidnapped buddy) to use Ursa for power. He abducts monsters for experiments supernatural season 6 Castiel and Crowley style. The exact same way he witnessed the Fatui do when he was a child.
He is so mocking of how weak Theodore is even though they could have given the two of them a brotherly bond they didn't. Lohen orders he be the one tested upon to give him power. While Theodore's goal is to save Adorno's life Lohen scorns the idea of even spending time with the man. Yet care sneaks in... don't over do it don't accidentally kill Adorno.
Lohen of course being the one to step in and say enough when it IS gonna kill Adorno. His sense of right and wrong is fucked up and all over the place. But he can work on inherently selfish desires for now. Adorno dying doesn't align with those desires.
And Lohen's conclusion at the end isn't that power is bad. Isn't that he should be content with how strong he already has become. No his conclusion it taking it right back to the very start. Lohen isn't willing to be controlled. So power with conditions of obedience isn't really Lohen's power it's not what he's looking for.
He rejects Ursa on the grounds of it's not the right kind of power. And then he seeks his own power in his Witch Homework fighting strong people just as he was before.
Now here's what really made this a 10/10 quest for me.
Consequences in MY genshin impact?? Lohen gets his chance at inheriting a title revoked, his promotion is revoked. And he is obviously uncaring because he never wanted those titles especially not when he knew he was never worthy. And the entire quest Lohen was entirely uneasy at the prospect of being granted things that aren't him. In a complete parallel to how he rejected the power that wasn't his own.
But I am so glad they didn't do an instant 180 on Lohen's personality where he realizes what he's doing is wrong therefore he 'realizes' the way he is as a person is wrong.
Lohen damn near spits on Theodore over come with no other word I can use than disgust at how weak he thinks Theodore is. How pathetic he views him to be.
Lohen takes the consequences on the chin and then keeps being exactly how he always has been. Most notably Lohan literally doesn't apologize to anybody. He says he'll take responsibility but that is all. He's clearly going to keep drugging his knights and charging into fights ahead of everybody else. Just no more secret dragon experiments

Happy Anniversary to this tweet that had 0 strange outcomes
This scene in 347 where Isagi and Rin's joint kick fucks up, misses, and loses them the game is a core part of Blue Lock's philosophy. Working together will never get you anywhere. Be a solo egoist.
We see this happen where Nagi gets locked off because he relies too heavily on Reo and doesn't preform enough on his own despite having the talent for it.
Bachira and Isagi way back when get separated and teach us right away no team up is safe or sacred here.
And yet. WHY were Isagi and Kasier rewarded for working together and winning the match back in Neo Egoist League. It fundamentally contradicts the systems set up by the narrative. Isagi needed both Michael Kaiser and Alexis Ness to score a goal on Rin. (Kaiser's strength to match Rin and Ness's talent to pass the ball) Which you'd have THOUGHT would have shown Isagi a full team IS needed to play soccer.
But all he thought was that because he made a goal it was somehow all him. And now that Blue Lock has lost to France in the World League with everyone trying to be striker they're lost, befuddled, SHOCKED like this theory hasn't been presented and tested in their faces. I am so confused by the writing I truly am. Not because these aren't things that should come up in the story. But because they already have... multiple times. Yet nobody has learned a damn thing???
This is not a EGO. Yoichi this is literally you being defined by the people around you. I can't even tell if the writing is intending this to be a positive or if this is gonna get beat out of Isagi too because the pacing is so abysmal and Isagi seems to need to be retaught the same exact things every single match of soccer he plays.
Because here he is a few chapters later sure this means he wins. Because when Isagi scored a goal with Kaiser and Ness's help he declared himself the winner over Kaiser. Here where he simply managed to feint left around Hugo and then fuck up making the goal with Rin he decided he wins. While Hugo knows they're not playing 1v1s they're playing soccer.
I just don't get why we have a Main Character who they can't figure out a central identity for.... it's so strange
im crine a hoi4 twitch streamer got got because he said the allies should have glassed russia icbbbbbbbb everyone is treating it like a call to terrorism when it's about something that didn't happen 80 years ago helloooo. it's an america deserved 9/11 level ban and people are pearl clutching to the most extreme degree
Love the end of the year panicked parent emails "my child is failing" he has a 68 so no he's not. But I've spoken to you no less than 15 times about how poorly he is behaving in class and turning in no homework so...
I grasp Dahlia's character in the sense of who HE is and WHY he has made the choices he's made. What led to the hydro vision... but what I don't get is why VENTI chose Dahlia.
What about Dahlia's "dull repetition was the greatest enemy of all" made Venti think he should be the one to speak as Barbatos. Dahlia was a true child of Mondstadt. And encouraged others to embrace freedom too. But Barbatos choosing Dahlia crushed him under the weight of vestments and scriptures. They're not an example of freedom to Dahlia but duty and we know from Furina duty can be the heaviest job of all.
So why oh why did Barbatos see one of his children who would hate the church but never have been happier than on the road seeing all of Tveyat and ask him Twice to work for the church. Once as a suggestion from Venti. And once as an actual request from Barbatos knowing none of his followers would ever deny him a thing. "Freedom when demanded of you by an archon is no freedom at all" is what he said when he encouraged freedom. Here with Dahlia it's not even a choice. I'm SO intrigued.
Because! Venti's entire shtick is making mondstat self sufficient. He doesn't interfere with the knights, nor does he influence the church. The thing is, stuff still needs handling. The church isn't JUST a bunch of nuns praying to Barbados. I mean, that's it on a surface level but, as Dahlia discovered when he finally read some of the church's scripture, what it REALLY dose is archive mondstats history and keep the spirits of citizens up. Sure, its done in the name of Barbados but his name is actually only as far as it gose. Half of there ideas about barbados aren't even accurate but 'people need something to belive'
Now, to get to Dahlia, specifically: he's actually very similar. Yeah, on paper, he's the herald of barbados and speaks his will. Pay attention to that, and it adds up to Venti sometimes telling Dahlia when it's gonna rain and good places to hunt. The helping people with their problems? The listening to people? The keeping an eye on the current state of mondstat as a whole? That's all Dahlia. Venti has nothing to do with that side of things, for the most part.
And that's why Venti chose him because what Dahlia does, he can do without Venti. being 'the herald of Barbados' just lends his words some weight, Venti doesn't actually medal that much, Dahlia dose. Venti could disappear tomorrow and 90% of Dahlia's role would be completely unaffected, except that now he wouldn't know when a storm was coming in.
So now Venti has someone that could 'speak his devine will' if he really needed them to and someone nosy enough to keep him awear of the general vibe around mondstat, but he's still not actually running anything. The church and mondstat on the whole stays self-sufficient.
He chose Dahlia because 'he's a true child of freedom but, crucially, has his own compass, too'. Dahlia is the embodiment of everything Venti believes but he's not a blind follower. Maybe it was a little morally gray to ask it of him as Barbados but, to be fair, Venti has never actually been above pulling rank of he thinks its for the good of the nation as a whole, he just dosn't do it alot.
I know what Dahlia's job is but none of this really answers the question of why Dahlia at all. Dahlia getting the hydro vision signifies he's traded freedom for duty. So there is no self-sufficient nature here. Venti is hiring a shepherd. He sees his people as needing more oversight than any other archon save Ei. Which would condradict the concept of Freedom. But Venti seems very hung up on literally giving orders so to do it to Dahlia in order to round about instruct his people. It's fascinating.
Because Venti picking Dahlia IS interference with the church. And going out of his way to prove Dahlia is divinely chosen and spoken to so that people will listen to him above other people he most likely dislikes in the church. That's Barbatos medelling more than we've ever seen before. It's not just Dahlia claiming it, Barbatos performed miracles behind Dahlia's words to prove it.
Dahlia in his character stories we learn prays often to Venti and thinks of how Barbatos would phrase things before he says them. His words are rarely his own. So Venti saying Dahlia's moral compass is why he picked him doesn't even really make sense because Dahlia wouldn't oppose something Barbatos told him.
And we know from Durin's Story Quest, there isn't a thing in Mondstadt Venti doesn't know about or hear on the wind, potentially the whole of Tveyat. So he doesn't need Dahlia to keep him updated either.
My question was not what is Dahlia's purpose but why would Venti choose someone so uniquely opposite to the role in the first place. Because Dahlia hates the church from the clothes to the rules to the very scriptures he memorized. All because his God 'asked' him to. When Venti should be the last Archon to ask anything of the sort. It's out of character in the sense of how Venti presents himself to the Traveler and I think that's Super interesting
Good point!
And, now you've got me thinking about it, I do think we're seeing Venti the unreliable narrator at work, again.
He says he dosn't meddle in mondstadts affears but then we watch him do so. He says mondstadts people are free to govern themselves, then he keeps a very close eye on who's governing. He says the church is pretty much separate from him and then basically hand picks its leadership.
I mean, his identity is the worst kept secret in mondstadt and, again, now I'm thinking about it, everyone in power totally dose answer to him. I mean, with the recent releases, we learned that Varka AND Seamus Pegg know. That's the leader of the church and the knights, respectively.
I'm getting off topic but, my point is, maybe this isn't out of character. Its out of character for what Venti has said but its completely in character for what he's been shown to do.
Heck, I even believed him and, I'm speculating, but I think part of it might be because Venti also genuinely believes he's not as involved as he is.
LIVE LAUGH LOVE VENTI🗣🗣💯💥💥💯💯🗣💯🗣🗣💥💥💥
Duuuuude. The little dark god venti in the corner!
it's weirder when they believe he's a awful person. bc if i saw idk logan paul for example at a concert my first instict wouldnt be to wait in line to take a picture with him as if i was a fan
1st? wouldn't even be an instinct I wouldn't go anywhere near him. Like i would walk the opposite direction from wilbur for example which is how they think of dream soooo?
Willingly standing in line to take a picture with someone you hate is embarrassing especially when you’re there to see ETHAL CAINE
THEY WAITED like not saw him first and took a selfie. But got their asses up during a concert and got into a line to see a fucking Minecraft Youtuber. Simply unwell behavior. And if I might say uncouth to do at a concert that is not his
the concept of seeing dream at an ethel cain concert. recognizing him. going up to him for a photo and then saying you're an anti... no one made you do that.
AND apparently the line lasted for like an hour. Holy shit I wouldn't even do that
saw f1 was racing hope all rey's favorite men won
