Black Artist Spotlight - Afro Tarot & Oracle

Jessi Jumanji’s multimedia artwork combines photos with evoking additions of futurism, ecology, and ancestry in vivid tones and singing colors. It is an incredible style to bring to a deck and she’s offering two right now for pre-order: a Tarot and an Oracle. They have different focuses; the Tarot showcasing African heritage and culture with her distinct Afrofuturist styled images; while the Flora and Fauna of Africa Oracle deck is an ecological exploration of over 100 species of plants and animals.

She has plenty of non-deck work that is jaw-droppingly beautiful as well; best showcased by this recent article from AfroPunk. You can also keep up with her work through her Instagram or her Facebook. And it’s worth following both if you have the accounts- there is variety between the two and it is an eye opening rabbit hole to explore.

BLM SIGILS

The first one means “this blm protestor is safe”. It can be used when you’re not going to protest but someone you care is. Put this sigil into their bag or carve into the ice of their water bootle. I don’t know, be creative!

This second one carries this meaning: “I am able to avoid conflicts”. We’re not always going to meet people with the same point of view. This sort of things can heat up the things but not with this sigil. It can be used in BLM manifestants to keep them away from the riot zone.

The third one it’s my favorite, it means “I am safe from police brutality”, it can not only be used by BLM protestors but also, for people that are target from the police in the daily. The intention behind this sigil is to mage the target invisible to the police, put your intention into it. Be safe.

Made with the text “Protect black lives matter protesters and rioters from harm.” Already activated, the colors symbolize protection and peace, I’ve posted this before, but it was when only had 15 followers, so I thought i should repost it for more people to see

Black Artist Spotlight - Akamara + Okana

With a minimalist style and gold foil on rose-petal cardstock, both the Akamara Tarot and Okana Oracle give that luxe feel and a riveting African Diaspora focus. As of writing this post, the striking black, white, and gold decks from Lolu are out of stock. But they are available for pre-order and I’m sure will go fast again! Black Artist Spotlight - Adinkra Ancestral Guidance cards

We move away now from the literal personified style decks and go into the symbol based with Simone Bresi-Ando’s deck. It is a minimalist style deck of symbols with explanations based in the Adinkra language- linked with the Akan people of Ghana and the Gyaman people of Ivory Coast. Simone showcases the deck best herself in this video; showing how each card is designed to help with the interpretation. Though the deck does not cover the entire symbolic Adinkra language (there are over 400!), the 44 symbols carefully selected by Simone Bresi-Ando to focus on are meant to open the door to further insights and messages. This interview gives insight into what the Adrinkra cards and Simone are all about.

Above is a sigil i made to protect Black Lives Matter protesters, using the text “Protect black lives matter protesters and rioters from harm” and I invite anyone to use it. I used the colors blue and orange on purpose, with blue representing peace and protection and orange representing power.
