2024: The Year of Blocking

I keep coming across more and more posts that are attacking the members of fandoms, not characters or ships. I don't know who needs to hear this, but I'm hoping it's the encouragement people need:

It's okay to block those people and move on.

Don't waste time on a defense, whether it comes from a place rooted in facts (such as differences in customs or even simple psychology) or simply your feelings on a matter (such as your need for escape from the horrors taking place in the world). You don't owe the people an explanation. It is not your job to educate people, even in matters of basic compassion. More importantly, most of the people are not receptive even if you do feel the urge to educate.

There are other members of the fandom that will be more than happy to accept you! You will meet so many amazing people with similar interests! Chase your happiness.

Setting up boundaries in life is not being mean. On social media, blocking and/unfollowing is sometimes necessary for your peace and happiness. It's not about the likes, it's about recognizing your value as a person and knowing you deserve compassion and respect. People who don't respect that, don't need to be part of your life, physically and on social media.

Let it be known that I just blocked a tag, not because it’s about something that normally bothers me, but because there is just too much of it and it’s clogging my dash. I expect to be able to unblock the tag in the future. But right now it’s a thing that’s having a moment that I don’t care about.

Is there any purpose to not blocking people when they say stupid shit? "oh, its cowardly". No, it fuckin isnt...I just dont care to see their retarted opinions everywhere. Its the internet, not a debate hall. Im not here to change peoples minds and change the world. Im here to see shit I agree with. Debating online is pointless
