This lady is such an #inspiration. #Repost @mytravelstamps (@get_repost) ・・・ How old is too old to dream? Thankfully, there's no wrong or right answer, because the only prerequisite for dreaming is believing. And luckily, no one generation has the copyright on that! 2013: Immigrated to the US in late Dec (mid career) to be closer to aging parents and pursue the path to citizenship. Life was good in the Caribbean, but other than wanting to be around my folks more, I also longed to have greater visa-free access. Yes, passport privilege is real! 2014: Went through THE most emotionally draining job search period EVA. After 13 months of rejection, I questioned everything. Was it my resume or interview technique, my age, my accent (which isn't going anywhere), or the color of my skin? Somewhere during that toxic time, I decided to channel the little positive energy I had left into something that could bring me joy. And the idea for MyTravelStamps.com was born! 2015: Gave up on the equitable career level aspirations and accepted a junior position at a boutique PR firm, which allowed me to learn new skills and stem the hemorrhaging in my account. I was blessed to work with some great people, and the experience, while humbling, really helped me grow. 2016: Landed a new job that aligned more closely with my cumulative experience. Sunk my teeth into the role. Kept traveling and writing in my spare time. 2016-2018: Work. Save. Travel. Repeat. In Feb 2018, a friend mentioned me to someone in her network and I miraculously got invited to an influencer event in Antigua. I couldn’t go, but I paid it forward and suggested three people. A few months later, that same friend shared a FB post from a new magazine looking for writers and I reached out. By Sept, I’d submitted an online guest post. 2019: In April, I got my first byline in the magazine, and I signed up for the inaugural #BlogLikeABoss course from @glographics. I’m juggling a ton of competing priorities right now, but scroll back 21 squares and you’ll see yah girl is done with excuses. She's ready to WERK. Because guess what? I no longer want to be just a dream chaser. I’m striving to be a dream catcher, too. https://www.instagram.com/p/BxUj2C7BDWV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=mqyxnj3nrogq
