"Keep your faith and be patient"

If you’re wondering how to start a business, it may be easier than you think. Like other successful businesses, you’ll want to make sure you have a good idea first. From there, you can build a product or service that solves a need for consumers. But before you jump into anything, you’ll want to make sure you do your research.

Running a small business can be both a lonely and fraternal experience. It’s lonely in the sense that no two small businesses are the same. Every entrepreneur has to deal with a unique set of circumstances and factors that are specific to their business. On the other hand, it’s fraternal in the sense that small business owners stick together.

So here's their stories how they come up to build their small business from the start.

This store is located at Fatima Subdivision Pagatpat Cagayan de oro city. Mrs. Maria Linda Taclob a 48 year old is the inheritance owner.

according to aling Linda this store was started on March 4, 1998 when her mother retired from their work, so they decided to build this kind of business without knowing how to manage it. but as time goes by her mother knows the strategies to run this business by the help of her father and also her siblings. The family of aling linda help one another to run this business. The first income they come up was enough for them to feed the family and went to school. until such time the profit sold by multiple which makes the store expand and helps to finish their studies. there are times that multiple neighbors starting to build a "sari-sari store" near by, so the profit that they usually they come up everyday went slow. but the family of aling linda didn't stop because they know that every business must need to be more in patience and keep faith.

at the age of 15 aling linda lost her mother due to cancer and his father a year after. aling linda was the older of the family so she is the one who will manage the said store. she's trying to be like her mother strategies.

The biggest challenge that they experience was during this lockdown due to covid19 they didn't expected that this pandemic will make them suffer. but they still thankful they still have foods that stores in their house but when we talk about their business they really lost a lots of income profit during lockdown. they lost so many consumers and they closed their store for a couple of months. but now they continue and trying hard to gain what they lost. they never give up nor surrender.

The Story was very whelming.. so here's the suggestions for expound the business.

Starting a business requires analytical thinking, determined organization, and detailed record-keeping.

It’s important to be aware of your competition and either appropriate or improve upon their successful tactics.

You’ll almost certainly end up working harder for yourself than you would for someone else, so prepare to make sacrifices in your personal life when establishing your business.

Providing good service to your customers is crucial to gaining their loyalty and retaining their business.

INSIGHTS

• The people we have interviewed have common denominator which is hardship that they are capable of surviving. We won’t always get what we want right away, it teaches us that we still don’t have control over time no matter how good our time management skills are and no matter how good we are at predicting our future. The struggle may not be fun, but it is necessary for them to strive hard and go on with life. They consider all the possibilities of solving the problem and used maximum of their efforts.

DECISION

• One decision we have made is that we will make use of our knowledge to make something that will help them lessen their difficulties. With that, they can benefit assistance that may be useful to help resolve their service issues.

OPTIONS

• The options we have is that we make an application that can help online buyers to aid their difficulties in choosing the best outfit for themselves based on their sizes and the other option is a device that can help the establishments and also the people that don’t know where the fire exit is. A device that alarms every time it sense heat and when there is fire, there are led lights on the floor that you can follow going to the fire exit.

LESSONS LEARNED

• We have learned that different people face different problems. All we have to do is to know how to overcome those problem with possible solutions.

Blog #1: Intro

For this week, we have been tasked to do about rejection therapy, and to fill up the given personality test and berkeley innovation index, and finding my group mates for project. After knowing the result of the personality test, I did find a group which opposite answer of mine and which they are suit for the assigned task. I know I have chose the team well.

In the rejection therapy, there must have two members and must ask random people any questions that would answer them a NO. It is hard for me to do this kind of task since I am an introvert person. But I did this for the subject and also for myself because I know this would help me a lot. It really helps each of us to overcome our shyness most especially in talking to other people and because our subject is all about business and we must know how to overcome our weakness.

We have tried many times to successfully done the video. And I just reflecting something on it. It tells me to go away to my shell and start doing. This is for the best, and I know that  this subject would really helps me to the business world and I think this is the starting for my career.

In my group mates, I hope they will do their best to it. And I am looking forward to what will happen to our project. And I also  take this as a great challenge for myself. With the help of my team I know we can make it. Just stick to each other.

It is absolutely critical that we do not celebrate ethnic food and romanticize it as the end of racism and the achievement our multicultural dream. And it is absolutely critical that we see multiculturalism as a racial ideology that allows the persistence of racial inequality by suggesting that race no longer matter. So it turns out that food is not the best way to learn about another’s culture. Rather, food is one of the best ways to learn about the changing nature of race making and racism in the United States.

Tanachai Padoongpatt, Too Hot to Handle

Padoongpatt’s concluding passage is a passage I will hold close as we continue exploring different foods, and as an extension cultures.

I found myself comparing the bit of knowledge and observations I have made of the growth of Mexican food culture while growing up in LA and the knowledge I was acquiring about Thai food culture in LA as I read Too Hot to Handle.

Padoongpatt’s discussion about authenticity and the appropriation of Thai food, resembled the discussions I have heard in the Mexican community in LA about what constitutes authentic Mexican food. One comparable examples are the publication of The Original Thai Cookbook by a white woman and the marketing of certain chain food places such as Taco Bell as authentic Mexican food. Another comparable example, is the addition and compromise of ingredients used in Thai food and a similar compromise of ingredients in Mexican food such as hardshell tortillas.

I was also touched by Padoongpatt’s discussion of the romanticization of Thai cultural traditions in Thai food while ignoring the violence of colonialism, imperialism, nationalism, and political conflict in Thailand. I believe there is a similar romanticization about the wide availability of Mexican food in LA, without discussion about the racism and appropriation that still accompanies it.

Observing similar shifts in these two cultures’ foods, has given me some starting points to observe the shifts that LA and the US has caused in other cultures’ foods.
