"okay but why DOES lydia call stiles?" on that post, you know what I was thinking (b/c I was wondering the same thing) is that they have obviously all been spending time together over the past 4 months. I think he probably talked to her about if weird shit like that happens to call him first b/c he doesn't want his dad getting hurt. And I think that's why he yelled at her ya know, bc he's told her before not to call the cops first. I think this is something they've probably all talked about.
this scene kind of makes it seem like they have, but the scene in the cars in the first episode really seemed like the opposite. we know at least allison’s been in france all summer, no contact with her, but I can see lydia and stiles having spent time together- especially since allison wasn’t around, and lydia surely would’ve wanted to talk to someone about all this werewolf shit. stiles is the only other fragile human in the mix- I can’t see her bonding with melissa, especially given the disappointing nature of her relationship with her own parents- and they joined forces at the end of season 2, so it makes sense. stiles’ desire to keep his dad well away from all supernatural shit has been established since the middle of season 1. and he’d obviously be very motivated to spend time with her, too. maybe they would hang out sometimes while scott was at summer school, and stiles was a flaily adorable idiot and lydia rolled her eyes at him and they got to be at least sort of friends. that would also help explain how stiles got from “15 year plan to win lydia’s heart” at the end of s2 to where he was at heather’s party.
