The function of all the components of blood (plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets)
Plasma: is the relatively clear yellow tinter water, sugar, fat, protein, salt solution which carries the red cells, white cells and platelets. Normally 55% of the blood is made of plasma. Plasma brings nourishments to the body and removes waste product from it.
Red blood cells: large microscopic cells with out nuclei. They make up 40-50% of our blood. They transport oxygen to the body.
White blood cells: 1% of our blood. There are different types. Some of them (lymphocytes) are the first responders to the immune system. They identify and bind any alien cells found in the body. Some of them (granulocytes and macrophages) are the ones that destroy those alien cells.
Platelets: cell fragments without nuclei that work with blood clotting chemicals in site of wounds.
