So, I am going to have to finish writing my fic before ep 6 drops, or else their shanaagans are going to probably affect the story and derail my outline. 😭 (Y'all the point of this was not to be cannon, but I am afraid cannon is going to heavily influence me at a scary level because they have probably cannonized avott.)
So I would like to thank you all for sticking with this project and sorry for not uploading chapter 24 last week. This story technically ends at chapter 24 and I have so far had very mixed reactions about the epilogue. The last bit is really just me self indulging and you can choose to include it in cannon of the story or not. The main story ends at chapter 24. Anyways, thank you all for sticking with me on this story. I do hope that you all enjoyed it. I got to meet so many of you because of this story and I am grateful for it. <3
As I Want You, I Will Make That Happen
Chapter 24:
If You Are Hurt They All Burn
Scott had grabbed another lantern before quickly making his way to Apo’s house. The vampire pounds on her door as they open up seeing him standing in front of them with fear shooting down her spine.
“Evening Apo.” Scott sounds calm; however, his face is filled with rage as he glares the military officer down. “You shot my little alchemist? Did you really think that you would go unpunished for hurting the only human that I care about?”
Apo Scoffs despite their fear. “Care about Avid? You kidnapped him!” She steps out of the house that belongs to her that Pyro used to reside in with her.
“You still shot him. You humans dare try to take the people I care about away from me again?” Scott repeats what he did to Drift’s house but doesn’t wait for her to leave as SHE is a human. Humans took away Derek, and they tried to take away Avid too.
“Scott, what the hell? You can’t just burn people’s house’s because you are mad!” Apo shouts as they jump out of the door frame.
“You’re right.” Scott creeps closer to her and puts his claws into them causing them to bleed. “You deserve so... SO much worse.” Scott moves one of his hands down as he drags his claws slowly down the front ripping their uniform and drawing blood. He leans down and whispers into Apo’s ears. “I will make sure to enjoy this. You hurt what is mine after all.”
Pyro and Martyn hold Avid over their shoulder as they make their way over to Scott’s location slowly. Avid has never been in this much physical pain before. He didn’t even know vampires could feel pain. He is always learning so much more about how human these people are. He guesses that he is one of them now.
If vampires are monsters and he wasn’t one before, then he is now. He would be a monster that killed a monster. The moment that the three of them made it to Scott, the smell of human blood lingers in the air. Avid would be lying if he said that is wasn’t bothering him.
Avid notices where the scent comes from as he sees Apo clawed up with Scott towering over them. “Scott...” Is all he says under his breath but his voice altered his vampire of his presence.
Scott turns around and sees Avid being supported by his two fledglings that he has decided to take under his wing. Seeing them supporting the person that he deeply cares for seems to bring him joy. Yet he sees the desire in Avid’s eyes that looks familiar to him with all the fledglings that he has had in his immortal life.
Looking back, he sees the human that he had covered him her own blood. “Apo, get up and come with me.” He compels as they slowly walk over to Scott’s side. “Song drop, you look thirsty. Their blood must not be good for you mentally. I am proud of you for being able to restrain yourself, it is impressive for a fledgling so close to blood.”
Avid’s mind raises with thoughts of wanting to pounce Apo and wanting to continue to get praise from the vampire that had turned him. His sire. The word “sire” rings in Avid’s head as he looks at Scott longing to be next to him. He had these desires before but they are stronger now.
“My Alchemist, how long are you going to be waiting. I mean, they are prepared for you aren’t they?”
Martyn and Pyro remain quiet. They know that this is because Apo had shot at Avid in the woods. And if Avid doesn’t drink from them he will probably end Apo’s life anyway.
“S- sire... I don’t... want to drink from a person...” Avid’s voice is week as he tries to plead with the elder in front of him. Scott has seemed to care about him. He at least more recently seems to care about what he Avid, himself wants.
Scott smirks as he releases control of the officer. “Right, I guess burning down their house was punishment enough. No need to go further.”
Apo getting out of her haze realizes what just happened and sees this as a mercy being cast upon them as they take off running. Running to where? She doesn’t know. All they know is that for another six months she will be stuck at this post. At least if she can get out of this situation, she will be able to see her wife Cherrie again.
“Pyro, Martyn, hand Avid off to me.” Scott reaches out as the two nod in agreement.
“Of course Sire, I’ll go and get some more food for us. It is clear that we are going to need it.”
After Avid is handed off to Scott, Pyro disappears leaving Martyn behind. “Father, is there anything that you want me to do?”
Scott has picked Avid up and is carrying him in his arms as the alchemist seems to have fallen asleep. He notices the piece in Avid’s face that wasn’t ever there when he would sleep prior. “How many beacons do we have at the moment?”
“We have all of them but the town father.”
Scott pauses briefly as he contemplates what to say. “Desecrate it. Then break the town’s beacon so those that want to leave can. I want to go back to my capitol palace. I haven’t been there in about four-hundred years. We would have a better food supply then this small town.”
Scott teleports back to the manor with Avid in his arms holding him close as he walks into the room that Avid had yet to truly be given as his own room since he had stayed in Scott’s most of the time. He places Avid down on the purple bed as the alchemist looks peaceful.
Scott sits down on the bed next to him as he runs his fingers through his hair trying to detangle it from all the commotion that he has been through. Avid seeming motionless where he no longer breaths, and no longer has a heart beat would terrify Scott if he didn’t feel the pull from the bond that he created when he sired Avid.
As he notices another one of those invisible threads pulling on him, he looks up at Pyro who has a lot of bottles in his hands. “Sire, I felt like while we are here waiting for Avid to heal, we shouldn’t completely drain all the blood the animals have. So I decided to bottle them up instead.”
Scott takes a blood from his fledgling and starts to drink the bottle. As he holds some of the blood in his mouth he moves Avid to his back from his side and kisses the alchemist as he transfers the blood into his mouth causing Avid to instinctually drink.
Avid, slowly opens his eyes as he sees that there is some blood dripping down Scott’s face as he still tastes the metallic tang of blood that was in his mouth. “Scott?”
“Yes, my alchemist?” Scott moves his hand and wipes his hand across the blood on his face.
Avid takes Scott’s hand and cleans the blood that he wiped off his hand without thinking. “Come down, please.”
Scott leans down and Avid kisses down the red streak down his face. “I missed you.”
Scott holds his hand out to Pyro, requesting another bottle as the fledgling complies. “I missed you too, drink some more Song Drop.”
Avid takes the bottle and quickly chugs the bottle down. After he finishes drinking, he is finally able to sit up with out too much pain. He looks at Scott, who’s eyes are blood red like crimson and his hair is now white as snow. His skin is almost perfect and looks a lot like porcelain. “You look different.”
“I’ve gotten back up to about the power that I was at before I was put to sleep. before they killed... him...” Tears run down Scott’s face which is a first for Avid as he had never seen any vampire cry before. “Avid, don’t do that again. I almost lost you. I don’t want to lose anyone else. Don’t play the hero anymore song drop.”
Scott places his hand on his cheek while also brushing Avid’s hair behind his ear. “I didn’t want to lose you either Scott.”
“But you were human, your life would have been relatively short compared to my eternity. I wanted to turn you, but not as a last resort to save your life!” Scott pulls Avid in. “I wanted to offer and have you say yes. I wanted to hear you say yes without fear.”
Pyro standing off in the side of the room feels jealousy that his sire has more consideration for someone that accused him of murder early on then he ever had for him. Yet Pyro now had someone. The words that Scott had told Avid echo in his ears. “Your life would have been relatively short compared to my eternity.” He thinks about Abolish. He doesn’t want to live forever without him. Maybe, Abolish will be willing to change for him.
“I would have said yes Scott.” Avid says as he places his hand on Scott’s. “Thank you, for saving me. If you died, I don’t think I would have been able to handle it. I would have lost another person that I love by a weapon that I created.”
“But I almost lost you Avid!” Scott’s words synch in as Avid thinks on what he is saying and Scott continues. “You are mine and I don’t want to lose you. I had a witch remove my heart from my chest! I wouldn’t have died Avid. Little Alchemist, I would have lived.”
“I didn’t know that though. I thought that you would have died.” Avid feels small as he is about to break into tears. His voice quiet but also sounds as if it will shatter.
Scott’s eyes soften as he pulls Avid in embracing the alchemist. “Right, I never told you. You had no way to know. You were acting on the knowledge that you had.” Scott kisses the top of his head. “Thank you for doing your best. I probably would have done the same in your situation.”
“Of course Scott, anything for you.” Avid leans into Scott as he notices the protection and safety that he feels, which he has not felt in a long time.
“Hey, Song Drop?” Scott nuzzles his face on Avid’s head.
“Yes, Sire?” Avid responds to Scott using the title that is a form of respect.
The title from Avid resonates in his head giving Scott some form of satisfaction that he never got from Pyro calling him that name. It creates a feeling of longing and wanting for intimacy. “I was interrupted before you almost died. I have still yet to tell you in person.” The elder vampire rubs Avid’s back. “Avid, My Alchemist, My little hunter, I love you.” Scott pulls Avid in and places a kiss on the newly turned fledgling’s lips.
As their lips part ways Avid reaches out to touch Scott’s face. “Stay with me Sire. Please.”
He kisses the hand that Avid placed on his cheek and then holds it there. “I wouldn’t dream of leaving you Song Drop.”
As five hundred years have passed since they were all in Oakhurst and since Avid’s turning. They all have been having a peaceful time in the capital. The citizens are more than happy to provide for them so they no longer have to go out hunting.
Abolish, didn’t want to be turned right away when Pyro asked him but after seeing the pain his vampire felt watching him age made him change his mind. Abolish never wanted to hurt Pyro but he ended up doing so anyways. Pyro had ended up powering up his vampiric abilities, but Abolish never saw the reasons to do so as he was never brought into the coven in a time of chaos.
Avid has lately been thinking about his time back in Oakhurst as it has for once seems so far away. He still wants to be out in the sun so he tends to use a parasol as it will block out the harsh rays that would keep from ever stepping foot outside during the day.
He has found himself enjoying gardening as the years had gone by. The motions of pulling the weeds always was relaxing. It helps keep his mind focused as the idea of it wondering for too long could very well be distressing.
“Lord Avid Goldsmith” a human maid calls out to him as he can smell her intoxicating blood and heart beat pick up in the air.
“Yes?” Breath in and out through your mouth as Scott has taught you to do when you are thirsty. We don’t need another attack on a random maid this century. Avid tells himself as he realizes how hard his thirst is to truly control.
“There is a Lady that says she is from Oakhurst here to see you.” The maid stands still as if Avid is a danger to her life. He hasn’t attacked anyone in her life, yet remembers still circulate from his last attack. With no one from the coven there to hold him back, it is nerve wracking for her.
“Take me to them.” Avid responds not knowing who that would still be around in Oakhurst that would ever want to see him again. Sausage and Shelby seemed perfectly content with just staying in Scott’s old manor and keep it clean for them if they ever decided to visit. And Owen... it couldn’t be Owen.
Once the two make it back into the palace he closes the parasol and walks slowly to the room the maid guilds him to his main conference room. Avid once he makes it into the room and sits on the couch he sees a figure that he isn’t quiet sure if he recognizes. He only sees her back but if he were to describe what he saw in a few words it would probably be ethereal beauty.
She turns around to meet his eyes, her red eyes seem to shine like the blood moon once past as her long snow white hair flows down probably longer then it should be. She walks up to him ever slowly as he tries to place where he knows her as she hands him a bouquet of white lilies and a note.
“Avid, I am sorry for what I did and how I treated you. I should have listened. Please forgive me.”
The note portraying the same message the flowers give from a tradition long since passed. He tries to think as he it dawns on him who it is in front of him. He smiles as the memories that weren’t all bad flood back to him. “I told you not to find me Drift.”
“I couldn’t stay away forever. Sausage told me where you all went.” Drift says as she walks closer to Avid.
He stays still as he notices how close she gets as he can feel himself stop breathing. “How long have you been a vampire?”
“Long enough. I was while you were human. Sausage changed me.” Drift pauses briefly.
Avid remained silent, not that the information that he was given really changes the perspective that he has on the matter. Even then, something about Drift in front of him now, brings him similar joy to him that Scott does in his presence.
Just as he thinks of the comparison he feels his husband wrap his arms around him from behind. “An eternity is a long time to hold a grudge, isn’t it Song Drop?”
Avid looks at the flowers in his hands and smiles. “It really is.”
“Well Song Drop, I am gay, but I know that you are not.” Scott says to Avid, as he kisses the top of his head.
“I still love you though Scott.” He says as he looks up at his lover who is slightly taller then him. Nothing has ever changed.
“I didn’t say you didn’t.” Scott runs his hand through Avid’s white hair. “I’ll never get used to the color that it is now. I still miss your purple eyes.”
“We can ask Pyro to cast illusion magic on them if you want.” Avid reaches up and touches his face gently as Scott leans into Avid’s touch. “We could even turn your eyes back to blue.”
“Awe, you remember my original eye color from when you were accusing me of murder!~” Scott swings his voice as he smiles closing his eyes.
Avid’s smile drops from his face as Scott tease him. “I forgot that I don’t like to remember how you used to treat me. You were the most attractive person that I had ever met, but you were a real asshole.” Avid looks around his eyes landing on Drift again who has been watching the exchange and Avid sighs. “But I guess so were you Drift.”
“I was an asshole?” Drift tilts her head curious on where Avid is going with the possible insult.
Avid smells the flowers and opens his eyes looking at the the old detective with a young appearance in front of him. “And beautiful.”
Scott laughs as Avid did not turn down Drift asking if he thought she was an ass. “Avid, Song Drop, my alchemist, please you might be able to win me over with flattery, but you can’t do that with everyone.” Scott places a kiss on Avid’s head again. “I’ll be back. You can do so if you want to. I am more willing to share then I used to be.” Scott runs his hand through Avid’s hair once again. “After all, I know that you wouldn’t leave me. You fought to come back to me after all.”
Avid listens as Scott’s foot steps leave through the door leaving him and Drift alone once again. “So you have regrets on how we ended things? You did kill me.” Avid runs his hand softly over the flowers knocking off some petals.
“I regret that shot every day for the past five hundred years.” Drift looks at Avid as if she nothing but an entire world. “You seem a lot calmer then we last were together.”
“Five hundred years is a long time to be able to process and move on from trauma.” Avid meets Drift’s eyes. “It is also a long time to hold onto a grudge. Right?”
“It is. It is a really long time. It is also a long time to have a guilty conscious.”
Avid slowly gets up and closes the distance between the two of them even more leaning down to her ear and whispers to her. “Would you like to join the coven and our eternity?” Moving away slightly Avid moves her hair away from her face. “It would just be the two of us and I’ll still be with Scott. Martyn has Cleo and Pyro has Abolish. What do you say Drift?”
“I- I wouldn’t mind at all Avid. I would love to.”
Avid pulls Drift in for a hug and thinks to himself. Scott is right, an eternity is a long time to hold a grudge. “For our eternity together and everyone else, Drift.”
Drift leans into Avid’s chest and relaxes. “Yes, Avid, for our eternity.”
“He was with me.” Sausage speaks up as the group of people look up seeing him covered in blood.
A mix of vampiric and human blood fill the air and Owen recognizes Avid’s scent. “DID THEY KILL HIM?” Owen shouts as he gets up and grabs Sausage’s blood covered shirt.
“I don’t think so. But I don’t know if he made it. After Apo missed me and hit Avid I attacked and in the middle of my attack, Avid had disappeared.” Sausage looks around hoping that Scott isn’t around yet.
Owen lets go and scoffs. “Humans are all the same, they never change. Treating us like we are the monsters, but in the end, that is what they are to our kind.”
“Owen,” Cleo chimes in. “we shouldn’t paint all humans as villains. They aren’t all like that.”
“You aren’t any better Cleo! When were you going to tell us you weren’t human? It is obvious now that we are all here and I can’t hear a heart beat. Yet, you don’t smell like any of us. What are you?” As he stares at them he sees Martyn sit next to her and wrap his arms around her as if trying to protect them. “You know what, that isn’t important right now. You aren’t human and that is all I should care about at the moment.” He turns back around to Sausage. “Clean yourself up before Scott returns from the cellar.”
“Who needs to clean themself up?” Scott’s voice comes from the kitchen causing everyone to tense up. He looks at Sausage and gives a strained smile. “Sausage... why do you smell like his blood?” Scott swiftly makes his way over to the author. “Why do you smell like MY Alchemist?”
Sausage drops to the ground and for the first time since turning he feels genuine fear. “I swear, I was trying to protect him. I didn’t hurt him Scott! I- I promise that I wouldn’t do that!”
“Is. He. Alive?” Scott continues to stare down the author cowering in fear.
“I- I-” Sausage couldn’t get anything out.
“IS HE ALIVE SAUSAGE?!”
“I don’t know Scott! He disappeared when I was fighting! I think he is alive, but I don’t know!”
