The Demons’ Rise / / Closed rp with @bloodmoon-zed
The sky was pitch black--not even the moon could be seen. Tall clouds of charcoal-colored smoke made its presence known, raging fires spreading quickly. There were some screams, some cries of mercy...others, charging out into the middle of the village with double-edged spears pointed outwards at their enemy.
Veperine stood tall, her steel heels digging deep into the soft earth below her stiff feet--her own spear gently at her side as she surveyed the area.
“I thought you were all dead,” she spoke lowly as the people surrounded her. “Maybe you all disappeared to hide from me. To make me think you were dead...so I really wouldn’t have anywhere to come back to...home, as they would say.”
The men and women, ready to fight, spoke no words to her.
Until one.
“Demon!” he cried out, moving towards the front. “You are a demon, and no such demon lives amongst the Lai Shi. You are not welcome here, you were never welcomed here.”
Veperine’s blood red eyes flickered with hatred as the man spouted out nonsense. Of course she knew she wasn’t welcome amongst them...but now, they labeled it with a different reason. Or maybe... Maybe the fools knew all along. And that’s why they rejected her.
“Is that why you outcast me?” She roared, her voice loud, echoing through the raging fire. “Is that why you forbade me to use my true power? Because I was a demon?” She lifted her gauntlet towards them. “Yes... You were all cowards. You were all afraid to face me. Afraid, because you knew you wouldn’t be able to control this!”
The ground rumbled violently, as power drew into her gauntlet, but before she would be able to make a move, her long-past villagers, the Lai Shi, all reached their hands out. Beams of bright blue light shot out, wrapping around her arms, forcing her to take a knee.
“You...” the man spoke walking up to Veperine sorrowfully. “We shall grant you mercy by ending your life here.”
