Everyone thought that Simon didn’t make it. The truth of the matter was he almost didn’t. He had been brought back to the land of the living on a wing and a prayer. The full ramifications of the ax that left a crevice in his skull were still unknown. All he knew was that he was cognizant enough to worry; how was he going to pay for his medical treatments? How would his family support themselves while he healed? His family was already barely scraping by when he worked his fingers to the bones at the grocery store and dealt drugs. How could he move on with the loss of his best friend? Regardless of his circumstance, he tried his best to keep a cheerful appearance. Not wanting to cause anyone anymore worry.
“You guys don’t have to take turns watching me, you know.” Simon offered Sam a goofy grin of reassurance from his hospital bed. “The drugs they are giving me are the real shit. Like it feels like I’m fucking a fairy mid-air. Plus, my nurse is sexy as fuck. At seven, she is giving me a sponge bath.” As best he could behind the bandages, he wagged his eyebrows.
