“———is it ever difficult, muzan-sama?” douma comes to ask, “—perhaps we’re more similar than i originally anticipated… rulers over countless lives, the only one able to guide them.”
he asks again.
“—is it hard on you?”

Thoughts were very deliberately kept quiet, lest her mind wander to words that would earn his irritation. Still, she couldn't help but fret still, the worry that nagged within her even as Kokushibo managed to not allow it to show upon her face.
If his mood would shift, if her daughters would be endangered.
If she would fail to protect them, too.
"...do you have new orders, my lord?"
More than anything, the desire to try mitigating the tenseness she felt.

" please, understand that i did the kamado family a favor. with them gone, they no longer need to see each other wilt away as all humans do as they grow old. "
"How does that--"
How they must bite their tongue, the urge to argue, to question, for she had guarded them for centuries, for generations, ever since she had learned of them and recognized the family for who they were.
Ever since her curse near completely shattered, held merely by frayed ends.
They didn't mind it, they were happy enough for centuries under her protection, ensuring no other demon could disturb the peace they had created for themselves, the only thing she had left she could do for that cursed and blessed sun.
"--there were no reason. It served no purpose!"
She had gone to Doma first, all sorrow and rage, but it at least meant many of their emotions had already been laid bare rather than left to snarl in front of Muzan himself.
Kokushibo can still feel their hands trembling. They can't tell why.
"I do not understand what reason you could have."
She did. They were twin's descendants, they were all that were left of family, and that was all the reason he needed, wasn't it?
What an unpleasant taste within her mouth.

"...Muzan-sama."
Head tilted forward, body lowering to a kneel as the other's presence were known, but she must account for it--the growing roundness of her belly, two daughters she instinctively covers with an arm, the action disguised as merely part of her show of respect.
"To what do I owe the honor?"
