so since my shift got canceled I’m going to write about one of my favorite highlights from my last larping weekend so we’re at the final battle on Sunday and it’s kind of on this path in the woods. And there’s the huge monster-mobs we’re fighting and like the 30-ish other players with us, some shouting “11 DAMAGES” or, “17 DAMAGES” or spells and shit and everything fast and big going on. Meanwhile, I’m meagerly defending my friend who is using a blow-dart pipe and now and then shouts “3 DAMAGES” and the fighters next to us just have this moment of realization like “WOOOH this dude has an actual blow-dart and HITS” on their faces paired with “We all know this 3 damage shit ain’t doing anything BUT HE’S DOING IT” and that in itself was pretty damn hilarious. Although a few mobs actually ACTED the hits and that in itself was pretty damn neat and hilarious.
At some point the battle moves toward another path that divides the action between two sides of a ditch and me and my friends are mostly on the side that’s not where most of the mobs are, so my friend can have some security shooting darts from across the ditch. His character firmly believes that he literally made a troll EXPLODE but, that was because literally two spells were shot at it at the SAME TIME but, nonetheless, he MADE IT EXPLODE IN HIS RETAILING.
and then you got the best part.
Where from the same spot my friend accidentally shot the main boss-mob, a magic user. (accidentally cause he was aiming for the troll but the mage moved his hand and got the shot.)
The Mage paused, and lowered his eyes on his hand where the dart had hit.
Rose his head slowly until he locked eyes with me and my friend, slowly rose the offended hand at my friend with eyes that said YOUUUUUUUUU while we started squirming in terror.
In the middle of this huge battle, the mage was so offended, he casted a teleportation spell SPECIFICALLY to appear behind my friend (meaning he literally JUMPED over the ditch and everyone witnessed the petty revenge) and shot a massive shock spell at him that not only hit for 20 damages but SHOCK him out of reacting.
FOR A PETTY 3 DAMAGES BLOWDART.
And that was both terrifying and awesome and the best thing that happened to us on Sunday.
The release of the patch probably isn't going to help that £15m MRI machine that runs XP embedded whose maker went bankrupt 10 years ago.
