this month of september i spent some time developing the history of nautilus a bit more: the council members and workers involved and what each one contributed, their dynamics, how TITAN and DAE basically brought Corporate Trauma to the reserve, much more! ^-^
the designs for the past Nautilus 'brands' that follow the shifts in What Was Going On on the inside;
Marina Coastal Parks being the original name of the reserve, which up until now has just had No Name. the council being called the Maritime Council, which in the past I just nicknamed the Old Syndicate. their symbol is a starfish with palm tree leaves.
Thennn when Nautilus shows up after the results of the Marina-Pyrrhopia War, they decide to fuse into Nautica; the symbol changing to a swirly sun and wiggly seaweed leaves to signify a new dawn of time, and the uncertainty of that era where they were rebuilding the reserve after disaster.
Eventually TITAN becomes Director and personally decides the place needs another rebrand closer to his idealistic (self-centered) image and introduces the logo and theme we know now. the nautilus shell and an inorganic shape with laurel(?) leaves. no trace of Marina left.
after wear, miko, raptscha, and a few other animals start the foundation of the maritime council, three ungulates Dolly (sheep), Mary (deer), and Lue (pronghorn) apply to the council to represent each of their species. they sent out these invitations for all species hoping to have equal representation but many were too skeptical of the group as it was just starting out 💔.. they eventually become resource, security, and outdoors managers, in that order.
dolly's time as the resource manager during the M-P war has led her down some regretful paths. but dolly whatever you do just don't make that ram the Director later on just because you don't think that you deserve the role Trusttttt 🤞
also just thinking about how miko's Marina appearance was so relaxed and casual, and then their style gets more formal and concealing as Marina becomes Nautica, and then Nautica becomes Nautilus. as if to try and stay blended in. Love them
aand finally later down the line we have the Coastal and Raptor projects that flopped so badly the council had to disband. Carlanca, who arrived with the Nautilus crew to the reserve, was the mentor assigned to Kiki to train her to become a Nautilus combat wolf.
long story short she made things 99% more corrupt and worse and contributed to kiki's (and other 'trainees' involved) fear of Nautilus and authority in general. there was also the Coastal Project manager Gretta, a black heron, who was pretty much Carla's accomplice. but they both sucked at psychologically conditioning children and eventually end up dying to the very own monster they designed womp womp woooommppp
