Canto VIII part 2 is supporting my idea that Blubbering Toad is connected to K Corp’s tearful thing. Sinclair’s parallels were easy to see from the start, with the way the tears flow down over him like the eye dripping into the pool, and him “crying in people’s stead” being pretty much word for word with the tearful thing’s origin story

K Corp hasn’t been mentioned in Hong Lu’s canto but the way he’s brought along and forced to witness atrocities for the benefit of others (in this case, the family elders) is reminiscent of the tearful thing’s situation, though Hong Lu was forced to cut off his emotions to bear it while the point of the tearful thing is to exploit its reactions to the witnessing
