Lady Bone Demon. Favorite Flowers. // FanFic
Tera stood on the sidewalk, staring in surprise into the darkness of the flower shop.
Slowly she turned to Lady Bone Demon and the Mayor. The sight of the white chrysanthemums in her hands made Lady's face tense, but she tried to hide it. Sadly, her hopes were dashed. Tera held out the flowers with a gentle smile, as if the demon from flower shop didn't try to eat her a minute before.
— I bought them especially for you." The girl's innocent voice was like an additional needle piercing Bone Demon' thin flesh.
— Do you... know what they represent?
— Yes, that's why I bought them for you. - Tera tilted her head with a smile, not noticing the Lady's hint.
The Bone Demon sighed.
— That's... very nice of you... - Tera opened her eyes, puzzled. The smile faded from her face. - You even risked your life for them...
The lady smiled awkwardly and pushed the bouquet back to Tera.
— You don't like them?" - the girl asked directly.
The Bone Demon's glance away gave a clear answer.
— Oh... Then... I'll take them. - Tera smirked, undeterred.
The girl turned away and began walking back to the Pigsy' Noodles. The sound of her sneeze echoed softly in the distance. Someone must had forgotten they are allergic.
The Lady chuckled softly. She was glad that her refusal had been accepted... better than the last time.
The Mayor's footsteps behind her were muffled but distinct. The Lady ignored him until he suddenly spoke.
— Pink peonies.
She turned to him in surprise. A self-assured smile adorned his face.
— The flat ones your favorite. I'll never forget.
His eyes narrowed affectionately. Small wrinkles adorned his blue eyes. The Lady turned away with a faint blush on her cheeks, but her heart felt pleased.
King Èr (二 (èr) = two) stood before her in their usual robe, but adorned with some white elements. In his hands was a lush(?) bouquet of white chrysanthemums. In the shadow of their hood, Lady could see him smiling, hopelessly in love.
— I picked them especially for you. - He spoke, his voice dripping with soft honey made from pure, sincere love. But all he met was a cold, harsh gaze from her crimson eyes.
— They are growing everywhere here. - she replied, devaluing his efforts.
His face contorted in confusion.
— W-well, yes... - his voice trembled in doubt, wondering why she didn't like the bouquet. - I-it is why they represent death. Mourning. Grief.
King Er continued to smile in vain, hoping that his beloved would accept his gift.
— It is why I don't like chrysanthemums.
With a cold voice, the Bone Demon left, leaving King Er standing alone, disappointed.
He will offer her these flowers again and again, as if he were deaf. Ignoring her words.
— I bought you roses. - Tera gently stroked tiny red roses, as if they were little children in her arms.
—Roses...? - the Lady asked, confused how anyone could have thought that she liked such... vulgar flowers?
— Oh, well, I thought that I have no idea which flowers are your favorite. That's why I decided that I would give you my favorites. - Tera smiled, clearly proud of her genius idea, and handed the bouquet to the Lady. - Thus, you'll look at them and think of me: "Ah, these are Tera's favorite flowers".
A slight grin appeared on the Bone Demon's face.
— That's... very... unique point of view...
The smile grew stronger, and the Lady accepted the gift. Now she indeed looked at the roses in a different way. They no longer seemed like ordinary, typical flowers on every sign of Flower Shop. They have a new significance.
