Nevermind
I see we're all being normal about this month's big meme.
I watched a YouTube video last night about social media and how it warps perceptions of mental illness
And for the most part I didn't disagree and got the point they were making
EXCEPT when she was talking about how Tumblr romanticised mental Illness
1. She implied the communities and tabs regarding mental illness solely were to do with romanticising it into an aesthetic.
Which totally disregards the many posts that I and others made with resources to get help
2. She basically said that making depression into an artistic aesthetic started with Tumblr
HELLO?
Has she never heard of the tortured artist trope? Which goes back to at least the Victorian times
In the 1920s Dorthy Parker wrote a poem called Resumé which would fit the parts of Tumblr that romanticise mental illness easily
Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren’t lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.

And that's only one of her poems that would fit. And that's from 100 years ago
I'm not saying it's fine to romanticise mental illness
Just that blaming Tumblr for creating the problem is...short sighted at best
What she says: I'm fine.
What she means: I'm tired of tumblr hating on la la land just because moonlight won. Both are great movies and the deserved the awards. But this blue hell site just wants to be immature and act like la la land was terrible. Of course moonlight definitely deserved best Picture, but you don't need to bash one movie and the people who liked it
Miss Anthropic Principle turned 6 today!
oh, google chrome... if only i could kill it...
The worst thing about Joss Whedon possibly directing Batgirl is that I’m going to have to put up with Tumblr complaining about Black Widow in Age of Ultron for the foreseeable future, even though people who think that movie “ruined her character” totally missed the film’s point and I thought that shit was just finally starting to wind down but nooooooooo I can’t enjoy my favorite superhero movie in peace, can I?
