blue and their pokemon

Because of Steven, they have a soft spot for kids. Pokemon AU: when they go to town with Rex (they are almost always with Rex), they sometimes bring cool stuff they found in the wild for the kids, like maybe insects preserved in amber and stuff like that. The kids love it. Blue is satisfied and feels good about it. Rex also feels similarly to Blue. He softens his stance a bit and let's one or two kids climb on his back. He pretends to run around. He usually doesn't do this bc he thinks he's too cool and badass for this shit. 

Blue watches this for a while, quite indulgent and content, then their sense of business/seriousness comes back and they snap their fingers, catch Rex's eye and tilt their head, like, time to go. Rex would have been happy/relieved to go when Blue signaled, because he is not a 'play with the kids and be their bus' kind of alligator. He was feeling a bit boxed in after a few minutes. Luke is the one who will happily allow it.

Also, every time Blue thinks of Luke, they shake their head a bit. Not in a bad way, but the way you do if your kid turned out SO different from you you wonder how that happened. They shake their head in amusement at Luke.

How they met Rex the Totodile:

Rex was very unruly and wild as a Totodile. He doesn't listen to commands and ran around doing what he wanted. He tended to bite people if he was forced into things (to Rex, he nipped them, he didn't bite then. If he bit them he would crunch down) 

When Blue was brought to choose a starter, they were probably urged against Rex, and the center's breeders were talking about how they weren't sure what to do with Rex and how he probably wouldn't get a trainer... 

Cue background sounds and they turn to see Blue, small and skinny and pale, creeping around looking for Rex (hide and seek). They find Rex and pounce on him. He squirms a lot and tries to get out. His jaws open. The breeders are like, “oh shit he will bite you!” But Blue gives them quite a disdainful look, like, who do you think I am, and grabs Rex's muzzle and holds it shut (they love reptiles and has played with wild reptilian Pokemon before behind their parents back.... So they know how to handle reptiles). 

Aaand Blue goes home with Rex, who is quite happy to have a playmate. They were like partners in crime

Nova and her daemon - tail lashing, purring

Blue and a young Pokemon. They would crouch and sit before it, talking gently and kindly to them. Teach and play games with them patiently. Their face would break out into a smile (they look so different) and they would chuckle when the little Pokemon gets something right. Like an older sibling.

Their Gengar is mischievous and playful. It's always disappearing off somewhere, and then reappears and looks like it's chuckling to itself. It then loiters around Blue with an expression of utmost innocence, like the kid who did something questionable and then hides near its parent. Blue sometimes joins their Gengar in on the joke and chuckles to themselves when they realize what the prank was and thought it was a good one.
