Blue Nessie Review
Blue Microphones are far from new to the industry; they make microphones for both desk use and mobile use. One makes them unique is their ability to create stylish microphones without compromising the most important thing which is the sound quality whether you are recording a new music track, making YouTube video voice overs or simply used for podcasting.
Blue Nessie Review
The Blue Nessie is a snazzy microphone with all in one approach to how it works, it’s a condenser microphone with built-in digital effect, zero latency headphone input with volume control, built in shock absorption mechanism, flexible microphone head, in fact when I opened the box I was shocked with the sparse items in there, the only cable in there is your USB Cable.
The microphone has a snazzy design, the big microphone head looks alien, and it actually reminds me of ET, if you haven’t seen the movie, type ET into Google Images. The microphone contains a cardioid condenser diaphragm covered with a layer of pop filter and a silver mesh. The microphone head sits on a flexible hinge I like to call the neck as it offers various movements to help point it in the direction of where your sound is coming from. It has a heavy base to help keep it sturdy but still light enough to carry around on your travels to record sound on road.
Been a cardioid microphone, having the flexible movement is a great idea from Blue microphones as it doesn’t restrict where you can position yourself when recording to just the front of the microphone.
Out of the box the Nessie is a plug and play device again adding to its ease of use, although I mainly tested it using my Mac computer, I found the setup as easy as changing microphone and audio inputs; setup is very similar on Windows machines also as it recognises it and allows user to select the mic as source.
The cylindrical stand/base also doubles up as the volume control which works with the 3.5mm headphone input on the back for monitoring your audio and with zero latency, there is no lag, you can ear yourself as you speak; there is also a touch-sensitive mute key and when I say sensitive, it is very easy to find yourself muting your mic but thanks to the glowing/heart beat patterned white LED circle around the base, it glows solid when the mic is active and flashes when the mute is activated.
In between the micro-USB port and the headphone port is a small red switch, which controls Nessie’s three main recording modes; you can have it in raw mode, vocal and Music mode. Using Raw Mode provides a clean signal, Voice Mode adds a de-esser and DSP, and Music Mode adds some EQ adjustment.
Conclusion The Blue Nessie looks snazzy, whether you are taking it on the road, using it for podcasts it does a great job, if you want to listen to audio sample, watch the video above for how it sounds in all the modes. It record clean sounds with no issue and setup is as easy as ABC.

So.... I know I told my parents that lie last summer about "This being my last mic purchase"
But I can promise you, THIS WILL BE IT!!!
...When The Nessie drops down to about $50-75 and is purchasable from Amazon, I WILL BUY!
Right now, Apple has it for $100, which is really good! But at that price without a stable job or... (donations) to keep me working, I'm not going to be able to get it at the rate.
But I absolutely love that mic. It's nothing like it's predecessors, it's not extremely heavy, built in with everything you need (similar to the mic I currently have) and does not need a mic stand! But what's really impressive is that it's "adaptive" so no more hours and hours of editing extra bg noise for nothing (which I failed at anyway).
I always hated the Blue Yeti. Why? because everyone acted as if they just "HAD" to have one. But even though that is the case, I really want the nessie, not because of the cool stuff it's capable of, or because it's similar to the one I own now, but because I want to be able to say...
"SSMFHY SMHN WYPS GD Much WMMISB GSR?" (lolz)
Don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about? Go look it up. The microphone is called Nessie and it's by Blue. It does indeed get it's name from "Nessie" the loch ness monster, but that's because of the unique shape!
