EDNRB and EDNRB2 - Endothelin Receptor Type B(2)

This is a G protein-coupled receptor which activates a secondary cell signal system. Its dysfunciality limits the migration of the melanocyte and enteric neuron precursors in the embryo resulting in white or white spotted phenotypes.

EDNRB is the mammal gene, reptiles and birds have the paralog EDNRB2.

Paon bleu - La queue colorée et ocellée du mâle sert à séduire les femelles en période de reproduction en les déployant : c'est ce que l'on appelle faire la roue. En dehors de ces périodes, elle se révèle être un véritable handicap : elle le ralentit dans a course et dans son vol, le rendant plus vulnérable face aux prédateurs.
