Gregory's birthday rolls around two days later. Luckily, it's landed on a Saturday this year.

True to your word, the both of you arrive at the pizzaplex. The two of you have your pictures taken and receive photo passes, as well as VIP birthday passes.

The overworked teenager at the counter even hands your brother a sparkly birthday hat. It's a bit small, but he still snaps it on. You're glad he hasn't reached the "I'm too old for this" stage yet. A part of you wants him to forever hold onto joy.

You give Gregory some cash to load onto a card at the arcade. He promises to keep you posted through his fazwatch, as well as the emergency phone in his back pocket. It's an older phone of yours that doesn't work very well, other than calling and texting. The storage is abysmal but it serves it's purpose.

While your brother is busy, you use the map to guide the trek to the party room with bags in tow. You bop along to the tunes playing over the speakers, which seemimgly is everywhere in the plex, and set up the decorations. Gregory's really into animals, lately, so you decorate accordingly.

Underwater themed streamers, bear plates, and lion printed cups litter the party room. The company had already supplied table covers, presumably washable ones. You recognize Roxanne wolf and Monty Gator on the table you'd privately dubbed "The Kid Table." On the other one, you set down a stack of plates, cups, and napkins for the adult guests to figure out.

You find a kiosk in the corner. It lights up with a press. So THIS is how you order pizza for the party room! You follow the instructions on screen and set a time for the delivery. It should arrive riiiight when the party starts.

A parent messages you telling you they'll be a little late. No biggie. After a short call with Gregory, to make sure he's okay, you rest for a moment on one of the plastic seats. A little uncomfortable, but not terrible.

Now you wait.
