It’s My Little Monday! With...G1 Unicorn Pony Sunbeam! Sunbeam here was among the first unicorns of the G1 series. She appeared along side others like Glory and Twilight. While not as famous as Moondancer/ Glory etc., she does share the pose...which is slightly odd. (It’s somewhat elephant-like in the leg/body area) Being ‘extra special’ these early unicorn and pegasus ponies had glitter symbols. Hers is a golden sun with short triangle rays. What’s cool about this pony is whether they intended it or not, she is very ‘dawn like’ in color scheme. The body is that icy, frosty cold light that appears as the sun rises in the sky. The white hair goes with it perfectly (white-ish/pale frost blue sky) and then a pale yellow sunbeam for the mane. Her eyes being a slightly darker shade of blue is also nice. If you’ve ever seen a cold winter dawn, this pony is a good representative for it. It would be super-duper interesting to see if whoever designed her meant for it to work this well with this much synergy to a time of day, including the golden glitter for the sun. Remember: these were supposed to be toys for like 8 to 12 year olds or something...did they use sophistication while wondering if it would be lost on the audience? Would anyone who did it know that others are looking now and noticing?
