while the 2025-26 canucks may not have many wins, we DO have the following:

A top C also playing defense and goalie (ranking third on the team in blocked shots and first in the league for blocked shots by a forward, literally stacking the pads/going into the butterfly/putting himself in net)

A 26-year-old currently 6th in rookie scoring

A D-corps of one extremely underrated Czech with a beautiful beard, three baby dmen whose futures with the team were once either unknown or nonexistent, and two veteran trees who are always at the scene of the crime

A 23-year-old faceoff savant who is in and out of the lineup but still has a FOW% over 60

A goalie who yearns for shootouts because he thinks they’re “fun”

A goalscoring winger with a heart of gold who just had the longest goal drought of his career

i've been listening to jeff marek's podcast here and there and he recently talked about a 'newer' tactic players are using to score on goalies. they're aiming for what is being dubbed "the triangle." yes, it's still considered "five-hole," but they are deliberately honing in on this specific area within the five-hole. it's apparently very, very difficult for goalies to stop.

once you know what it looks like, you'll keep noticing it. and when broadcasters say a player put it "five-hole," you'll feel smart and know that *technically* it was the triangle, not just five-hole.
