1. Why is Anastasia special to you?

The 1997 movie was my first exposure to anything Romanov-related when I was seven and immediately after watching it, I googled about it and real life Anastasia’s name popped up! That was my first exposure to history not related to my school’s curriculum and I honestly don’t think I would love history as much today, as a subject, if it weren’t for that movie and the girl behind it? It was what really sparked that interested and acted as my gateway into the subject and I just remember reading everything I could find on her after that. So, ‘Anastasia’ is a really special topic for me because it started that and is the reason I started caring about any kind of history really. :)

3. Which one of the impostors should have been the real Anastasia in your opinion?

Eleonora Kruger was the one I was really hopeful about because I think, if Anastasia had survived, similarly to Ms. Kruger she would have kept quiet about it and tried to stay as far away from the mystery as she could. Unlike Anna Anderson, Ms. Kruger never stated that was Anastasia nor that she wasn’t and that’s what really sold me on her story more than the others; the silence. I think Ms. Kruger still has an untold story to be told, but at the same time, it would have been pretty fascinating if that story had been Anastasia’s IMO.

6. Would you have been friends with Anastasia?

I like to think yes because of how I know of her now, but at the same time, she was known for being a terror towards other children so I’m not sure we would have liked each other very much haha.

10. Favorite characteristic of Anastasia?

Real-life Anastasia was very endearing in a way that few children are, I think. The sheepish mischief would have to be the trait that I like the most about the real girl. Musical Anastasia? Her unending optimism and incredible compassion. 

15. If you could travel through time and meet Anastasia, which question would you ask her?

I would honestly just like to ask her about the little things, because there isn’t a ton of information about OTMA out there actually! Her favourite everything, where she would like to travel, what activities she liked, how she felt about each sibling, aspirations and dreams for the future…

23. Dream cast for the musical?

I feel so lucky because my dream cast is already in the musical! I had been hoping for Derek as Dmitry since the first workshop and honestly didn’t have anyone in mind for Anya and the other roles, so I feel so blessed that we got such an amazing cast who embody every single character so well. If Angela Lansbury is ever up for it, I think it would be cool to see her maybe join the production as the Dowager Empress when MBP leaves. Honestly though, my dream cast at this point, after the OBC are done, would be total unknowns in the roles. Give rising actors a chance and surprise me haha.

@blue3ski: Agreed. The plot of L Change the World left a lot to be desired, but it was at least true to the character. The fact that he's no longer as powerful in this incarnation as he was always supposed to be gives me secondhand rage.

Yeah, I mean everyone was either a really watered down version of their characters or just completely OOC so I hate to say I’m not that surprised :/ the second I saw L giving public press conferences on live television in the trailers, I knew his character was equally fucked.

Light wasn’t Light. He was every edgy-teen movie protagonist ever. Mia and Ryuk were better Light Yagamis than Light Turner was, but also completely untrue to their source material. L felt the most like his original character for the first half (although still OOC af because let’s be real, L Lawliet would never show up to the scene of the crime himself) but then completely fell apart.

In a way, it almost makes sense why L also had to be a watered down, dishwashed version of his character. Light Turner was... not slick at all. You’re left wondering 10 minutes into this movie if everyone else is a moron for not realizing this guy is Kira. Had Netflix!L been true to L’s character, the case would have been solved in 2 minutes and there wouldn’t have been a 2 hour movie and even less of a conflict than the one that existed. Because real L would never have made Netflix!L’s mistakes lol.

I think the role might be too vocally straining bc she’s said she’s like more in the alto/mezzo-soprano range but I would LOVE to see this happen haha
