@bluecappd, continued from ⚜ ;
he can’t help but chuckle at the word ‘ hero ’, though the sound is sardonic, humourless. burns has never considered himself a hero, at least not in many years. far from it, in fact. surely he’s nothing short of a villain, but he’s at least become comfortable in his villainy. “ word of advice for you, kid. just because i’m a cop doesn’t make me a hero. that’s a dangerous mistake. ”
She bites her tongue for his lecture, and for having the gall to call someone like her kid. Here she was, patronizing him, telling him what he wanted. He could have her pinned under him in an instant the second he wanted. And he called her kid. Ire seethes underneath that calm exterior, and that distant smirk, amused and promising all the same. “And here I thought everyone liked when the public was fooled,” she crooned, smooth and pleasant. “Meant you could do whatever you want, and they’d all happily turn a blind eye time and time again.” They’d done it to other men. She didn’t doubt they could do it for him too, if he cared to play his cards right.

DISCOMFORT SEEMS TO FOLLOW HER WHEREVER SHE TURNS . an old friend , an uninvited guest . it latches onto the lieutenant and makes alice reluctant to speak with him or even meet his eyes . granted , she has met men who are all teeth . doesn’t mean she has to like them . he enters the room and she averts her gaze , staring intently at her fingertips .
‘ oh, lieutenant, didn’t expect to see you again. is there something i can do for you? ‘ // @bluecappd
