Hey! I finally got the motivation to do my Nathalie redesign! Honestly, I already quite like her original design in the show and probably would not actually change much - but I wanted to anyway take this opportunity to practice my character design skills. As always, my design notes and character study is down below. There are many details that only really make sense in my own au and fics - but I'd be thrilled to try and explain anything if anyone asks! :3 Who should I work on next?

Design Notes/Character Study

Major traits: flat affect, loyal, self-sacrificing, submissive, calculating

Major drives: perceived family unit

Civilian outfit: Kept red as accent color - color scheme to match with Gabriel's civilian redesign

Mix of early design and s6 design

Referenced soldier and pilot uniforms

Not too much flourish or jewelry

Gabriel belt

Headset - matches Tomoe's redesign

Intimidating but not too ostentatious - should be able to blend into the background easily

Mayura outfit: repurposed for more active field missions

Kept original show color palette

Influences from India due to name's Sanskrit origin

Katar as weapon

Cassowary bird legs

Loosely referenced a sari for drape and texture (my aunt has a very pretty sari that is this color lol)

Shawl/drape allows for fun silhouette

Based on Kalarippayattu costume

Birdlike mouth - looked through Epic!Athena designs for inspiration

Feather-like hair

Broken Miraculous: more non-human, organic elements than other holders (see Hawkmoth)

Metal arms sleeves and spikes - emphasizes hooked claws

Beautiful but deadly

Bright colors that contrast dull civilian palette - flashy detailed

Should not look outright villainous

Merges into eldritch version with continued Miraculous use

Eldritch version: based on albino peacock - symbol of otherworldliness

Referenced orchids for head - wanted a distinct silhouette

Character designs of sirens/harpies

Eye motif for peacock feathers

Note: Nathalie enjoyed using the Miraculous - it gave her a freedom she's not allowed as a civilian and as a shadow under the Council

X-ray: Ship of Theseus paradox (see fic for elaboration... or ask!)

Shows an intermediate stage so as to be more clear to viewers - more implants to come

Forget-me-nots (again... fic has more context lol)

Yeah im not elaboriting any further this was pretty fun to write

Because the character this theme's based on is very blue
