What a #startup does to you !
If you are planning to start a company or be part of a startup then beware your life is about to change - change for the better.
There was a time when I used to kill time chatting with my friends and through all other means but after I, along with Sahil, started bluegape my every second counts. I try to complete my tasks in shortest possible time so that I can spend my time with our (in terms of my Co-founder Sahil ) baby - bluegape to help it grow BIG.
It's an awesome feeling to be part of a Startup especially if you are a sophomore but at the same time it becomes difficult to cope up, you are flexed betwixt a college life and a startup life. You spend lesser time with your friends and your priorities change.
If you think there's lot to learn in a startup, then there's even greater than you can imagine. I began coding the bluegape site last August and at that time I had just passed my First Year and knew some basics of PHP, HTML and CSS. Then began an experience that very few people might have gone through at such an early stage in Life. I have coded a lot in the last six months - languages, techniques have now become so easy to use that I created few of my own. While the first version of bluegape just had a Notify Me button - Now we have a complex MVC (PHP) based website with a large number of features and capabilities. This change is not easy and we had to go through about 9 website designs before this.I did not read any book to learn all this - just used "google" and innovated.
If you thing an E-commerce site does not have much of tech-work then you are probably very wrong. You can't design a site and sit for orders. You need to "create" Customers and "extract" orders. You need to adapt everyday and every moment according to the need. There are failures. You might have worked very hard on a particular thing but it might not work and all goes to waste. But just a single order on your website makes you forget everything.
There are more side-effects too. You always keep thinking of Customer Acquisition, Validity of your USP and what not. And facebook becomes Social Media Tool to attract your customers. There's a lot to say but will end here with the last effect that can be noticed in the title of this post. (Did you #get it ?)
