#Repost @pensandmovies with @repostapp ・・・ Life is like jazz, son. It never resolves. - - #bluelikejazz #ericlange #marshallallman #stevetaylor • http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1758575/
If God was on a dirt road walking toward me, He was on the other side of a hill, and I hadn't begun to look for Him anyways.
Donald Miller - Blue Like Jazz
Authors Notes ‘Blue Like Jazz’
“I never liked jazz music because jazz music doesn’t resolve. But I was outside the Bagdad Theater in Portland one night when I saw a man playing the saxophone. I stood there for fifteen minutes, and he never opened his eyes. After that I liked jazz music. Sometimes you have to watch somebody love something before you can love it yourself. It is as if they are showing the way. I used to not like God because God didn’t resolve. But that was before any of this happened.”
The message behind this authors note is very powerful and very meaningful. It took me a bit to realize how much I love jazz, but there are things in this world thay I am still unsure of how it could even be classified as a passion. My mission is to watch those who love what they love in their natural habitat and understand passion as an element of its own. Wish me luck on my journey.
“...dying for something is easy because it is associated with glory. Living for something, Andrew would say, is the hard thing. Living for something extends beyond fashion, glory, or recognition. We live for what we believe...” Excerpt From: Miller, Donald. “Blue Like Jazz.”
“If you don’t love somebody, it gets annoying when they tell you what to do or what to feel. When you love them you get pleasure from their pleasure, and it makes it easy to serve. I didn’t love God because I didn’t know God.” Excerpt From: Miller, Donald. “Blue Like Jazz.”
