I absolutely adore them, so I’m gonna give them some love and stories. Make them a part of the OC roster.

OC Information Under the Cut

Both are Hivewing hybrids, though Bluespot is Seawing/Hivewing and Scorpionfly is Sandwing/Hivewing. Despite their difference in appearance, they’re actually half-siblings! Their father was notorious for lovin’ and leavin’, so he left quite a few hybrid offspring scattered all over the continents.

Both of them are trans, with Bluespot as male-presenting and Scorpionfly as female presenting.

Bluespot looks quite intimidating, which is very unfortunate, because he is a huge softie. He’s a musician by trade, and he loves to sing. His hybridism has left him without any of the natural defenses most Hivewings are capable of, so his only asset in a fight is his size (which is practically useless because he doesn’t fight enough to use it). He’s not a great flier, but he loves to swim.

Scorpionfly is small, wiry, and full of ambition. Unlike her brother, she was born in the Scorpion Den, and she’s always had to fight for what she wanted. More importantly, her struggles have made her ambitious; hybrids don’t have much political power, and she wants to have more control over her world than what she has.

They meet when Bluespot performs in Possibility. Scorpionfly took up residence there when she realized she would stick out much less. She isn’t much for the arts. Rather, she was at the performance because a rich target was also there, and she was hoping to nab something valuable from him. Instead, she saw just how many influential dragons had come to watch, and saw in Bluespot a way to make connections in high places.

She convinces him that he might need a bodyguard traveling from kingdom to kingdom, performing in places that might have varied reactions to the tales of a bard. At first, she sees him as nothing more than a naive fool (which is true). But he slowly wins her over with his dedication to making a difference, despite his anxiety and the ridicule he may face.

The pair of them travel the continents and perform tales to those who will listen.
