Hexoskin's fitness clothes now work with third-party apps
In late 2014, I tested out Hexoskin's first smart shirt, a vest that promised to monitor your vital statistics while you exercised. After a year in the lab, the company has rolled up to CES with a second-generation of the wearable that comes with a c...

Bluetooth Smart Technology
Andiamo a scoprire tutti i segreti della nuova tecnologia che permette ai nostri smartphone di interfacciarsi con i Beacon:
Bluetooth Smart Technology: Powering the Internet of Things
Bluetooth® Smart is the intelligent, power-friendly version of Bluetooth wireless technology. While the power-efficiency of Bluetooth Smart makes it perfect for devices needing to run off a tiny battery for long periods, the magic of Bluetooth Smart is its ability to work with an application on the smartphone or tablet you already own. Bluetooth Smart makes it easy for developers and OEMs to create solutions that will work with the billions of Bluetooth enabled products already in the market today. Learn more about the technology behind Bluetooth Smart.
Connecting the Internet of Things
First talked about more than 15 years ago, the Internet of Things (IoT) theorized objects and people would connect wirelessly. Classic Bluetooth provided the means for device communication and manufacturers built hub devices like PCs, smartphones, cars and tablets to take advantage of these connections. Now, because of Bluetooth Smart, the world is exploding with an incredible array of devices connecting to these hubs. A projected 30 billion devices will enter into the IoT ecosystem by 2020 according to ABI Research . Analyst firms all over the world recognize Bluetooth Smart as a key enabler in the Internet of Things.
What it Means to You
For consumers, it comes down to the Internet of Your Things. You wake up and go for a run with a heart rate monitor that speaks directly to your smart watch. You brush your teeth with a sensor toothbrush while listening to music through your showerhead. You keep your back straight and protect your computer with sensors at your desk. You watch your kids play basketball with a "smart" ball and shoes. You unlock your doors, turn on the lights and run your TV with your smartphone. These wirelessly connected devices are making your life better and less hectic while allowing you to benefit from the convenience, empowerment and freedom of Bluetooth Smart technology.
Powering New Verticals
Bluetooth technology gained an early foothold in several industries like consumer electronics, PC peripherals and automotive. With the advent of Bluetooth Smart, many sports and fitness companies rushed to integrate the new technology because of its power efficiency and ability to connect to smartphone apps—it was the perfect fit for a wide range of devices from heart-rate monitors to cycling computers. Now Bluetooth Smart technology is powering many verticals from wireless medical devices and home automation to retail and wearables. ABI Research projects Bluetooth technology will experience the highest growth in these markets in the next five years.
Developing with Bluetooth Smart
Bluetooth Smart is an application-friendly technology supported by every major operating system. The technology costs less and offers flexible development architecture for creating applications to bring everyday objects like heart-rate monitors, toothbrushes, and shoes into the connected world and have them communicate with applications that reside on the Bluetooth Smart compatible smartphones, tablets, or similar devices those consumers already own. This means Bluetooth Smart developers are limited only by their imagination.
Aldrig har vi lagt märke till förpackningar så mycket som nu, när vi själva ska förpacka Droples... & nu har vi fått en prototyp på asken där Droples taggen kommer att ligga. Visst är den snygg (:
We have never noticed the packaging as much as now, when we ourselves are about to package Droples... & now we have a prototype of the box where the Droples tag will be. We think it looks great (:
Ja, det är sant! Våra Droples taggar kommer att tillverkas här i Västerbotten! Bara några få mil härifrån dessutom. Och nej, de kommer inte tillverkas av papper (:
Yes, it’s true! Our Droples tags will be manufactured here in Västerbotten! Not far away from here too. And no, they will not be made of paper (:
What starts with location tracking and ends with a man eating fire?
A SXSW Bluetooth Smart meetup hosted by Paypal and sponsored by Fosbury.
People gathered on historic sixth street at the Bourbon Grill to experience new advances in Bluetooth technology. Fosbury’s CEO Lucas Tieleman presented our mobile wallet solution, the market's fastest way to use iBeacons for your business.
In under five minutes, you can create a coupon or loyalty card, and use Bluetooth iBeacons to send messages to your customers based on their location. Both our small business owners and agency clients are excited by the possibility of closing the marketing loop, by tracking digital ads to in-store redemption.

The featured speaker was Robert Scoble, Startup Liason at Rackspace, member of the Gillmor Gang, and co-author of Age of Context. He provided great thoughts on how Bluetooth Smart technology is turning our everyday lives into an increasingly tracked and contextualized society. This has the potential to give us wonderfully personalized experiences or create a dangerous threat to our privacy.
In addition to Fosbury’s solution, there were novel applications of Bluetooth Smart. Mahana has improved the restaurant experience with a mobile application that uses iBeacons to track wait times. Scanalytics uses floor mats to track and analyze store traffic for retail stores. Radius Networks sells a full suite of Bluetooth products, from the hardware to develop tools and a customer facing application.
And as promised, the event ended with a man eating fire. Thanks to Paypal for throwing the event and all the companies involved for pushing how far this new technology can go.
