I’ve mentioned ere and there that i really really like bluey. i’m not even done with the series and i’ve just come to an episode that absolutely fucking slaughtered me. S2xE38: Barky Boats. I’ve never had an experience in public school in my life and coincidentally i love the episode were bluey and bingo go to school. When the concept of the episode was put out there and i saw Mia and Captain and how they interacted with Bluey and Mackenzie i was hit immediately this episode was something. This episode for me drew a lot of parallels to the emotions that my second favorite episode Double Babysitter gave me. Particularly being very invested from the jump in Frisky and Rad and the intricacies of meeting somebody new and growing attached of them. I absolutely love how bluey does these story lines where it’s teaching how these events might look like in a real way. Captain says hi to Mia like five times like a dumbfuck, then he asks Mackenzie if he’ll put aside his dislike for bluey (which only appears in this episode?) for a change for him to speak to Mia. Mia obviously wants to talk to Captain as well, maybe more then he does her. This leads to the two older dogs drifting off from their buddies and getting into a conversation about being afraid of highschool, which their afraid of entering. Then mia ends the scene with the sentence “At least i’ll be there with you” which absolutely shatters me it’s so cute. Also the animation here is stunning???

This episode felt very fleshed out, felt like it took itself seriously and addressed its topic with a maturity and realness that is standard for the blue dog show.
