Dear Mr. Blumenfield, I am writing to you today to voice my opposition to the proposed legislation AB-74 (Anti-Raves Act of 2011). The legislation is a direct attack on music, not drugs. The legislation reads "any person who conducts a public event at night that includes prerecorded music and lasts more than three and one-half hours is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) or twice the actual or estimated gross receipts for the event, whichever is greater." As a music enthusiast, I can't help but feel that this is targeting an artistic and peaceful pursuit. No where in the text is any mention of drugs, which is the published reason Ms. Ma of San Fransisco has proposed this legislation. This is clearly a step in the wrong direction. Targeting the music is unfair at best and unconstitutional at worst. As a family man, a friend to many musicians, and a constituent, I sincerely hope you will oppose this legislation. You'll note that this is not a form letter; this is just how important this issue is to me. If you would like to discuss this issue, I am available for comment. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Jesse Fuller
