Character in general: There’s a saying in the TMI fandom, and it goes something like: “Alec Lightwood is better than you.” and that basically sums it up but I’m gonna keep talking anyways. Alec Gideon Lightwood is an actual precious gift from above, a little cinnamon bun, if you will, too good, too pure for this world. When I first read the series, part of me was very worried that Alec was just the “token gay guy” that seems to have become present in mainstream literature, film, etc. But Clare actually did an incredible job of developing him as a character while acknowledging his stuggle and writing it realistically, but it’s not his only struggle. He isn’t one-dimensional and flat and static. Being gay isn’t his only trait and that is something that I love Clare for sooo much. In a cast full of interesting, diverse and well-written characters, Alec fits in but also stands out. He has a place, but he’s still memorable and I just really love him so much okay. not to mentiON HE FUCKING DOMINATED IN COHF LIKE LITERALLY EVERY CHAPTER I WAS JUST YEEEEESSSSS MY CHILD MY PRECIOUS SON SLAAAYYYYYYYY so yeah he’s kinda one of my most favorite things ever? uvuHow they play them: ssssssssssssssooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOCCCCKKKKK OMFG HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU MADE ME FUCKING CRY OVER THIS NERD I HATE YOU BUT I LOVE YOU BECAUSE YOU WRITE HIM SO WELL AND JUST DON’T EVER STOP OK BLESSThe Mun: is a tree murderer just as sweet as the cinnamon bun they write uvu
