Yo Tane! What's your headcanon about sleeping mermaids? Cause fish don't just sleep, they have like seconds of sleeping and that sums it up! But what about mermaids? Do they curl up under stones (so they don't float up) and just hit it for a few hours???
YEs! I also like to hc some merfolk have like a buddy system like otters and hold hands, or just watch over each other sleeping, or sleeping in shifts. Also, as yall know I’m writing a fic with dolphin merfolk and basically yea I have them sleeping for a few hours, and their dolphin brain remembers to make them float to the surface to breathe every 7-10 minutes or so. So they’re effectively sleepwalking.
