THERE IS NO RATIONAL EXPLANATION AS TO WHY IT TAKES FIVE TRIES FOR THEM TO SET UP A PROPER VIDEO CALL. All three of them are supposed to be professionals and not drag personal disputes into their work. In theory, that’s easy. But in reality? They’re a mess. “If any of you hangs up again, I’m doing this one myself,” Younghyun threatens, though it’s a weak threat. He doesn’t want to admit it, but he does need Dante and Kimoon. They’re both a lot more experienced, a lot more used to the entire scene than he is. He understands why they’d thrown them together in particular.
“The sooner we get this over with, the better, right? We just need a plan. That can be done in five minutes.” A touch too much optimism. There’ll be quarrels and they’ll stall, as they’ve done the past handful of times, and in the end, they’ll bullshit the details. A miracle that it worked so far without them getting busted. Or worse, killed. Younghyun leans back in his seat, lights himself a cigarette. “Anyway, as promised, I got us that information. Some dirt on the guy while I was at it, for good measure. Turns out bald, fat CEOs sing like birds if you play lovestruck dummy for them. Pretty interesting.”
