XSportsNews Interview with K.A.R.D
Lately, the sudden spotlight receiving four-members co-ed group KARD (K.A.R.D) is causing a stir in the entertainment (for singers) scene. It's generally a girl group, boy group; so now having a mixed gender group is unusual and is attracting attention all over the world with little activities (from KARD).
"I think there has been much higher attention on us as there lately haven't been (any) well-formed co-ed groups. Furthermore, I think we have been receiving a hot reaction with our dancehall groove genre as it alone made them like it even more." - BM
"Truthfully, when I first heard that I was going to be in a co-ed group, I was very embarrassed. I couldn't picture it. Fortunately, I met my yeodongsaeng(younger sisters) and practiced hard with them, and during the training, it seemed to me that it was a perfect group." -J.Seph
"While we practiced and ate together, we formed a family-like relationship. Dating within the team is impossible. That will never happen. I can promise you that. Because I meet them every single day there isn't any ulterior motive. We don't need to right a note saying, 'Let us not date each other,' right?" -Jeon Jiwoo
KARD has been preparing for a full debut with a total of three projects. There have been no specific plans for broadcasting activities yet. KARD said, "There hasn't been any impatience yet." The plan is to prepare more thoroughly and then stand in front of the public.
Jeon Somin has already debuted once with April. However due to her worry of her career, she withdrew from her position in 2015 and after a long absence, re-joined once again as a member of KARD. If it was a cute and girly image during her time in April, then now it reeks the scent of a sexy and intense woman.
"It's much better now. Truthfully, after I withdrew I was having a hard time but now that I think about it, had I not gone through that tough time, I don't think I would be here right now. During my break, I felt like I matured. It got harder and I was shaken a lot but I had the thought of 'since I've already started this, let's see it to the end,' and did not give up. My parents are also very happy so I'm happy too" - Jeon Somin
Long before their official debut, their song "Oh Nana" has already hit America's Billboard and the new KPOP dark horse attention receiving KARD's "Don't Recall" has risen it's spot in main iTunes Song Chart to even 50th place.
"Our goal is a world tour. Our reaction to Brazil is the best but that's because my father is from there. If I get a chance, later on, I definitely want to go visit there!" -BM
Meanwhile, KARD's second single "Don't Recall" is the extension song of "Oh Nana" which tells a story of a man and women struggling with their feelings after a passionate love ends. It is predicted that the genre of dancehall groove which has been receiving a hot reaction from the fans overseas recently is said to be the distinguished colour that is only unique to KARD, which will continue to be trendy in the future.
