truthful topic: cartoons

I got this the first time but *something* (I think asks were broken that day) kept me from answering right away and then it got buried and I was busy…and…yeah.

Okay, cartoons.  Would you mind narrowing the topic a little?  I know more about cartoons than most kids do.  From Windsor McKay’s Gertie The Dinosaur to Pixar…Crusader Rabbit to Adventure Time…

I love watching cartoons.  I always assumed I would grow up drawing cartoons.  I’ve taken animation classes in high school and made small animations for use in a zoetrope at Disney’s California Adventure.  (The tape from that class has long been lost…though I might find the zoetrope strips if I looked.)

…however…I have very little patience for drawing the same thing a bazillion times.  I have to be in the zone and it’s hard to do that on command.  I figured I’d get used to it someday.

I’m not sure how, but one day I would still like to go back to making cartoons.  I figure I’ll have to learn Photoshop and probably more crazy software that I’m afraid of.  I’d like to do most of it by hand though.  I do own a lightbox…and the original reason I bought it was indeed to make cartoons.

I look up things when I get in the mood…but so far I don’t have much except a few notes on framerates.

Ughh…talking about stuff I’m good at makes me nervous…

Truthful topic: learning

SORRY THIS IS SO LATE!  I am LEARNING what it takes to suddenly up and move to the other side of the country as quickly as possible.  It takes a lot.  (Also I’m assuming you never got my return one…I think it was ‘notes to self’…I should start writing down the ones we’ve done already.)

Sometimes learning can take odd forms.  Like the FitBit taught me my steps can happen anywhere and still count.  You would think I could figure that out on my own, but no.

Learning in a traditional setting was hard for me.  I didn’t understand why I had to do homework or whatever.  I listened to the lectures, I could pass tests…but the busy work drove me crazy.

Ughhh…I can’t think of any more.  o.o  There’s way more to learning than this.

Truthful Topic: adventures

Last year we figured out my hip pain was a huge problem and wasn’t going to go away…so I figured I would be having less adventures.

…and I did have less adventures…for a while.

I’ve finally started coming around though.  I don’t have to have less adventures, I just have to make the adventures work for me.  

So we’ve been to the park a few times now…a small adventure…we go slow and I will sit for a while if I have to..and that’s pretty much how I have to look at everything else.  Just go slow and sit when you need. Enjoy the small adventures for now, and years down the line when my hips are replaced, get back to the bigger ones as soon as possible!

Truthful topic: timing

I have good musical timing, it’s one of the reasons I made it into the better choirs in my high school.

My regular timing seems to be pretty spot on as well.  When I used to be able to go places on my own I was almost always early or on time…I can map out how long things take in my head for the most part.

Can’t exactly talk about my current timing stuff yet.  Either Jerome’s going to get that job or he won’t and I’m not sure yet if it would be the best timing ever or the worst timing ever…but if it happens it will be overall good even if it’s bad timing.  I will stop being vague about it once we have a definite answer one way or the other.

I can’t think of any good timing stories right now…but I know they’re in my head somewhere.  It’s a little frustrating.  Too much focus on the above paragraph, I think.
