Deku: I’m here to break bones and make friends (clenches fist) and I’m all out of bones.

Oh boy, I sure hope he’s controlling this one.
AW FUCK
Down a hand and an arm. Deku’s pulled himself up from the bottom before but this is not looking good at all.
Yeeeaaaaah, Todoroki’s been scarily strong since he was first introduced.
Deku should use One For All on his entire body and belly flop onto the arena its the only attack powerful enough to blow Todoroki out the arena.
Are you trying to bait him into using the heat because I don’t know that that’d be any better.
He is baiting him, but only because it’s an insult to Deku that he won’t use both powers.
That... is a very good point.
Deku is fucking breaking his already broken limbs just to stay in this fight and yet he’s out here telling Todoroki to fight him harder. Deku’s got something to prove and he’s going to fucking prove it.
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
YOU COULD HOLD BACK JUST A LITTLE ACTUALLY
YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO FULL JET TURBINE ON HIM
These kids we’re actually trying to kill each other. They did not give a single fuck.
And now the audience is dead as well. Good job.
These must be his siblings.
One with white hair, one with red, and one with white with some red here or there. I guess he kept going until he had that perfect split down the middle.
oh boy
here it comes
okay i think i get it i don’t actually want to watch this
Yup, okay, I’m tapping out.
Okay, phew, they don’t actually show anything.
UH WHAT??
no, never mind, i don’t want to know
Nah he’s still got an arm, two legs and a head. He’s fine.
This is fine.
Everything is fine.
this is definitely the face of someone who is fine
In case you ever question who my favorite character is: It’s Deku.
Episode 23
And it’s Deku because no matter what, this boy always manages to surprise me and capture my heart again and again.
I mean, Deku’s resolve to win being so strong that he’s breaking his already broken limbs?? Gross, but, nothing short of amazing.
Though that doesn’t really hold a candle to Deku forcing to Todoroki to reexamine is ideals, his goals, and accept the other half of himself while in the middle of a battle against Todoroki. I think that, if anything, speaks to Deku’s integrity. He’s completely willing to help the people around him, even if it means he loses. Though he still fought with everything he had to win.
But, in the end it wouldn’t have made sense for Deku to win. Even if he had won the battle, he never would have been able to move on to the next fight with his body as broken as it was. I’m just glad he’s not dead, I’m not convinced Todoroki wasn’t trying to kill him. xD
Todoroki was also great this episode but jesus, that kid is fucking scary. I kind of hate diving into his background because its so awful. The worse part about it is that its unresolved. Endeavor, despite being a disgusting, abusive piece of trash, is still walking free. Walking free and living in his delusions while people hail him as a hero. Ugh.
Despite that, it was great seeing Todoroki work through his issues enough to embrace his fire, even if only for this battle. It’ll be great to see where his character goes from here. I think I’d like to see him in less serious situations moving forward. See him open up and hang out with the other students.
This battle was, admittedly, also a little difficult to watch. I’m really sensitive to gore-y type injuries even in animated situations. So seeing Deku break his fingers and then continue to break his broken fingers was a huge squick to me. Like, it speaks volumes to Deku’s resolve that he was willing to put himself through such agony just to win the battle. But. Still. Hard to watch.
So the whole abuse and squicky battle kinda lowered the excitement for me. Otherwise, it was a fucking fantastic episode though.
I can’t wait to see what’s next but that’ll have to wait until next time!
They really should’ve had some protection for the audience.
Oh no! He broke it. Can he not control it if its not a direct attack on a person?
Jesus, that’s a face.
Ah, okay. After seeing Todoroki’s first attack against Sero? Makes sense he’d want to hit back at 100%.
Todoroki’s strong enough to have several powerful attacks in him and Deku only has but so many breakable limbs. So this is not an ideal plan.
