In 1954, Henry Ford II commissioned the fledgling Carrozzeria Boano to create a one-off show car based on the new Lincoln Capri chassis. Gian Paolo Boano didn’t disappoint with the jet aircraft-inspired Indianapolis concept that was presented at the 1955 Turin Auto Show (b&w pic). Ford proposed a ten-year contract with the Italian designer, but instead, Gian signed an agreement to become head of Centro Stile Fiat. The build had cost $30,000 (approx $350,000 in today’s money), and after the Turin show, the Indianapolis concept was shipped to the US, where it became Henry Ford II’s personal car for a time, before it is believed Ford gave the car to his friend, Hollywood actor Errol Flynn.

1955 Boano Loewy Jaguar XK 140 Coupe

1955 Boano Loewy Jaguar XK 140 Coupe, designed by Raymond Loewy and manufactured by Italian coachbuilder Boano. The car was first shown at the 1955 Paris Salon. In 1957, he was persuaded to sell the car to Archie Moore, then the light heavyweight champ (that's him at the wheel). Unfortunately, it was destroyed in a fire later that year.
