Playing away in the north - Friday
Late to rise, late to eat breakfast then to wander around town, firstly in the pouring rain then under a hot sun. We decide to eat early and so found ourselves in the Board Inn at around 17:00 whence we had a couple of pints but no food: - Caledonian, Deuchars IPA, 3.8 So to eat, off to Sanders Yard a cafe / B&B/ restaurant with no draught beers so a bottle: - Black Sheep, Black Sheep, 4.4 After an excellent meal it was off in search of folk music. We alighted on the Ship Inn where there were about ten musicians in the back room and six in the front. The only downside was the real ale was off so: - John Smiths, Smooth, ?? Leaving the refined folk music of the Ship Inn we heard the sound of a rock band with violinist coming over the harbour. Investigating, we found the band at the Shambles. And what a band (called the Spirit Levellers) they were, and the beer wasn't bad: - Theakstones, Bitter, ?? Back to the Station Inn for a final pint: - York Brewery, Guzzler, 3.6
