A Late Night Stroll

With the flu epidemic going through the school, Camille had been busier than normal in the infirmary.  She had a place off school grounds and she and the other staff took turns spending the night in a makeshift room at the back to handle any late night issues that might come up.  She’d gotten stuck there more times than she would have liked helping clean up for the ill students.  It was one hell of an introduction to the school. She’d only gotten hired recently to fill in for someone who had stepped down to have a child.  It had required a move from where she’d been working before but she’d been eager for a little change.  Things had been more than a little stagnant in her life but she was content with the changes.  She felt like things were starting to pick up for her.

This night she had managed to get a night off.  She occasionally would enjoy the night life with friends but tonight was a low key sort of night. She had every intention of staying in and catching up on a book but the puppy her brother had bought her to keep her company seemed to have other ideas.  He wanted to go for a walk and she couldn’t really deny him when he kept looking up at her with chocolaty little eyes. He probably had been kept inside a little too much. Even if he was still little more than 10 pounds, he was growing fast and always into something.  She found his leash and after putting on her coat set off for an evening walk – or rather evening of following him while he snipped every fire hydrant or person in a five block radius.
