The “next Pres’s son-in-law” (as he called himself in a previous letter to his wife) attended the Chicago nominating convention had sent back daily reports to the Harrison household via his wife, General Harrison’s daughter. The incident described above illustrates how cramped the quarters were, and how close the Harrison forces and rival Gresham forces were to each other.
