See why I keep wishing I had the legal/technological means to give this the newsletter treatment as well (even if I just spoiled the ending but ugh who reads my posts anyway)

Look for me darling, Friday night.
Bob Randall, from The Fan
The Fan, by Bob Randall (Magnum, 1978).
From a charity shop in Nottingham.
The Fan will be released on Blu-ray on November 19 via Scream Factory. The 1981 slasher/thriller was controversial upon its initial release due its similarities to a number of then-recent celebrity stalkings.
Based on Bob Randall's bestselling novel of the same name, the film is directed by Edward Bianchi (Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire). Lauren Bacall, Michael Biehn, James Garner, and Maureen Stapleton star.
Special features will be announced at a later date, but Scream Factory confirms a new interview with Michael Biehn will be included.
God I wish I had the means to give one of my favorite novels that is also told in a letter format the Dracula Daily treatment
pros:
-spread out over six months
-not very long gaps between letters, quite a few even lumped into the same day
-characters you get good insight into and care about
-a really creepy thriller
-a statement on stalking and celebrity culture that is still relevant
-a gut punch of an ending that would leave this website drowning in their tears and feels
cons:
-won't be in the public domain for another 30 or 40 years at least
-reading on how to run a Substack is making my head spin
-like Dracula it is also a product of its time with the Bad Guy Saying And Doing Violent, Racist, Sexist, And Homophobic Things
-aforementioned statement would probably fly over the heads of the people who need to hear it the most

That old saw about smiling when you’re sad left out the real point- that it kills you to do it.
